Pay
This position is an exempt position at pay grade 217.
Attendance
Non-rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Overview
This position is responsible for IT Security. This includes the research, development, implementation, testing and review of the organization information security to protect information and prevent unauthorized access. Responsible for keeping city employees informed about security measures, explain potential threats, install software, implement security measures and proactively monitor networks. Acts as the representative regarding the organization’s security strategy, working with law enforcement while pursuing sources of attacks and when dealing with theft of information. Requires excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, solid knowledge of electronic and site security issues, firm understanding of the organization’s business requirements. Must stay abreast of new developments in the rapidly changing security environments. This position is expected to be available and respond to emergencies at all times.
Responsibilities
- Duties include Data loss and fraud prevention, security architecture, identity and access management, investigation and forensics.
- Must identify risk factors and propose solutions.
- Development and enforcement of security policies and procedures.
- Plans and tests responses to security breaches. Tests, deploys and maintains security hardware and software products.
- Protects systems by defining access privileges, control structures, and resources.
- Maintains quality service by following organization standards.
- Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing publications.
- Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Analyze IT specifications to assess security risks.
- Secure networks through firewalls, password protection and other systems.
- Document best practice baseline configurations for systems and network design.
- Inspect hardware for vulnerable points of access.
- Serve as a security expert and conduct trainings when needed.
- Act on privacy breaches and malware threats.
- Recognizes problems by identifying abnormalities, reporting violations.
- Implements security improvements by assessing current situation; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements.
- Determines security violations and inefficiencies by conducting periodic audits.
- Keeps users informed by preparing performance reports, communicating system status.
- Monitoring network activity to identify vulnerable points and to communicate them to IT teams.
- May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree or 2 year technical certificate
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
- Passing Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) background check
- A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire.

Basis of Rating
Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
