Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 10 years of experience; including 5 years of Information Technology experience and 5 years of Information Security experience.
  • Any equivalent combination of certifications, education, or experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities for the position.

Licenses, Registration, and Certifications (all are preferred, not required)
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) preferred.
  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) preferred.
  • Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) preferred.
  • Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) preferred.
  • SABSA Chartered Security Architect - Foundation Certificate (SCF) preferred.
  • Practitioner Certificate (SCP) preferred.
  • GIAC Defensible Security Architect Certification (GDSA) preferred.
  • GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH) preferred.
  • Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional (GICSP) preferred.
  • Microsoft Certified: Cybersecurity Architect Expert
  • Must complete required HIPAA training within the first 6 months of hire.

Job Description
Position Summary
IT Security Architect is responsible for designing, developing, and managing the implementation of Denver Water's Information Security controls. Define three-year and five-year technical roadmaps for Information Security. Write policy and procedure documents. Manage the architectural process for security controls. Ensure regulatory compliance including applicable National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) frameworks, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) security, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) security and privacy rules, Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS), House Bill HB18-1128, and industry best practices and standards. Keep up to date on security trends and incidents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage annual team budgets including technology platform, staffing, and professional services.
  • Responsible for the governance, alignment, assurance, management, integration, optimization, tracking, finances, infrastructure, planning, and improvement.
  • Develop necessary training plans to provide the team with skills and abilities to operate, maintain, support, and evolve the team's scope of technology platforms. Coordinate closely with business-side Product Owners.
  • Perform project initiation, planning, proposal development, vendor contract negotiations, contract administration, estimating, scheduling, forecasting, vendor management, and project budget management.
  • Serve as the high-level technical expert in guiding teams in solving complex business or system problems.
  • Oversee the design, testing, implementation, and documentation to ensure production schedules and service levels are met.
  • Design and implement highly technical long-term strategic goals and short-term tactical plans that align with the business needs.
  • Must be able to perform safety-sensitive functions - Industrial Controls only.
  • Perform related work as required.
