Job Description
The IT Integration Engineer is responsible for planning, developing, testing, and troubleshooting integrations utilized by the Clinic. Responsible for documentation of the integrations and maintaining the underlying database objects utilized by the integrations.

Principal Responsibilities
- Utilize knowledge of integration logic, skills, and integration associated applications.
- Provide Tier 2 and 3 technical support for Clinic integrations and supporting systems, including off hour support and travel as required.
- Resolve escalated incidents and analyze change requests for new and existing integrations.
- Assist with the support and implementation of existing integrations.
- Develop SQL stored procedures and tables used in the integration engine and related systems.
- Maintain a good working knowledge of different message transaction formats including HL7, FHIR, fixed format, delimited, XML, and JSON.
- Utilize an understanding of healthcare concepts and terminology in developing integration solutions.
- Provide development, testing, and implementation of integrations within EHR systems and other vendors used in providing patient care.
- Develop, test, and maintain documentation of integrations between EHR, other vendors' products, and internal applications and systems.
- Attend training and conferences on and off site as required.
- Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
- Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.
- Provide excellent customer service and adhere to Springfield Clinic's Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
Education/Experience
- Four (4) year college degree in computer science, business or related discipline or four years equivalent work experience in business, information technology, or other related field.
- Five (5) years of experience working with integration message transaction formats including HL7, FHIR, fixed format, delimited, XML, and JSON
- Five (5) years of experience developing, testing and documenting architecture design specifications for integrations between an EHR and other vendors' products.
- Five (5) years of experience developing HL7 integrations including using SQL stored procedures or scripting.
- Four (4) years of experience developing and maintaining clinical integrations using integration engines including Corepoint, Rhapsody, Mirth, or Cloverleaf.
- Four (4) years of experience developing HL7 integrations including using SQL stored procedures or scripting.
- Three (3) years of experience developing SQL database objects and usage including T-SQL query, stored procedures, functions, tables, views and indexes.
- Prior experience in a team environment and ability to work with others to accomplish goals and objectives.
Available for evening and weekend on-call support as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proven experience working with multiple stakeholders in a problem-solving and/or project based environment.
- Strong understanding of integrated clinical applications including AthenaOne, SIS, PACS, LIS, and Nextech.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare concepts and terminology including HIPAA, PHI, and clinical workflows.
- Have a strong working knowledge in the clinical arena relating to procedures and processes as they relate to clinical integrations including results, orders, registration, scheduling, document/image.
- Have a strong working knowledge of different message transaction formats including HL7, FHIR, fixed format, delimited, XML, and JSON.
- Demonstrate ability to execute projects from start to finish, including the development, measurement, and reporting of key performance indicators and commitment to continuous quality improvement.
- Above average communication skills both verbal and written in order to communicate effectively will all levels of Clinic staff and external vendors or clients.
- Ability to handle difficult or sensitive situations with diplomacy and tact, while maintaining confidentiality.
Working Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
