Salary: 17.65

General Position Summary:

 

Provides technical support to users by researching and answering questions; troubleshooting problems; maintaining workstations, mobile devices and LAN performance. 

 

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:

 

  • Completes projects by coordinating resources and timetables with user departments.
  • Provides support to all Port employees with mobile devices or workstations.
  • Performs routine maintenance of LAN/Server rooms.
  • Maintains accurate inventory of hardware and software.
  • Verifies application results by conducting system audits of technologies implemented.
  • Recommends information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes; identifying problems; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements.
  • Analyze business needs presented by users and recommend technical solutions with completion timeline.
  • Install hardware and peripheral components.
  • Load appropriate software packages such as operating systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve user issues/helpdesk calls relative to all software in a timely manner. 

 

Secondary Functions:

 

  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

Job Scope:

 

Job duties vary from day to day operation. Incumbent follows established practices and procedures.  Decisions are made within specific operational instructions and departmental guidelines.  Errors in judgment could affect the smooth and efficient operation of the Port.


Supervisory Responsibility:

 

Job has no supervisory responsibility.

 

Specific Job Skills:

 

  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Occasional lifting of 50 pounds may be required.
  • Broad understanding of computer networking and desktop operating systems and desktop application software and hardware.
  • Experience supporting mobile technologies ie: laptops, netbooks, iPads, and smartphones.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and customer service skills.
  • Must be able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and be flexible in working on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Confidentiality is of upmost importance.

 

Education and/or Experience:

 

  • Experience in the most current technologies.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

 

Job Conditions:

 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be in normal office working conditions but may also require outside work.
  • Job may require hours that exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week during peak periods.
  • Employee will face numerous interruptions throughout the day.
