The Enterprise Program Management Office (EPMO) is currently seeking an intern for June 2024 - May 2025. This part time position works full-time over the summer and approximately 20 hours per week during the fall through spring school semesters. The EPMO plays an essential management role in key Enterprise and IT projects for Corporate, Oncology Business Unit (OBU), and R&D. In order to support the growth of the organization, this graduate level intern position will contribute to the creation and evolution of the processes and systems used to manage projects and portfolios in DS as well as manage IT projects. They will be accountable for (1) contributing to the strategy and operations of Project Portfolio Management (PPM) systems (2) evolving PMO processes and toolkits, and (3) serving as a Project Manager for IT projects.
Responsibilities:
Project Portfolio Management (PPM) - System strategy & operations
  • Assist in the creation of PPM system strategy
  • Provide subject matter expertise to configure and evolve PPM systems and processes to help execute strategy
  • Establish operational best practices and provide support to ensure high accuracy of project information to help support data driven decision making
  • Manage onboarding of new projects and project teams onto PPM systems
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of PPM training modules
  • Assist in the operation of project/portfolio decision making processes for global and regional projects

PMO process and toolkit evolution
  • Contribute to the PMO by helping to evolve formal methodologies and processes for effective execution of programs and projects
  • Help define key performance metrics to measure program outcomes
  • Evolve and maintain the extensive PMO toolkit of project templates

Project Manager of cross functional IT projects
  • Coordinate project planning, management, implementation, and financial management of assigned business and technology initiatives through the entire project lifecycle
  • Partner with business and IT stakeholders and vendors to deliver projects within constraints at the appropriate level of quality
  • Deliver all key project management deliverables and including charters, project plans, budgets, project communications, status reports, dashboards, issues/risks, action logs, etc.)
  • Proactive identification and mitigation of project risks

Education/Experience:
Education
  • Enrolled in an accredited MBA, Masters in Technology Management, or similar graduate level management program

Experience
  • Managing the delivery of projects in a professional or academic setting using Waterfall and/or Agile methodologies
  • Leading diverse, virtual project teams, building project plans, authoring project communications
  • Preparing for and facilitating project team meetings with strong post-meeting follow-through
  • Collaborating with a variety of cultures and communication styles
  • Conducting Business Analysis and/or Business Process Engineering
  • Working in a global corporate setting, preferably at a life sciences company

  • Confident financial abilities in support of business cases and budget management
  • Highly proficient in MS Office and ability to quickly learn enterprise systems

Qualified candidates must currently be enrolled in an accredited MBA, Masters in Technology Management, or similar graduate level management program. Prior experience in a corporate business environment is preferred; experience in the pharmaceutical industry is a plus.
