About Planned Parenthood Southeast: In 1930, a Planned Parenthood affiliate was created in Alabama, the oldest in the Southeast. The Georgia affiliate of Planned Parenthood began in 1964. Position Overview: The Director, IT (Information Technology) at Planned Parenthood Southeast is responsible for overseeing and managing PPSE’s technological infrastructure and systems. The IT Director's primary role is to ensure that the company's technology operations are efficient, secure, and aligned with the organization's goals and objectives. The Director will supervise IT staff, consultants, and vendors.
Responsibilities
- 1. Program/Project Management
- Oversee multiple IT projects from conception to completion.
- Manage project teams and coordinate with third party vendors throughout lifecycle.
- Identify technology needs and trends, and recommend appropriate solutions to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Collaborate with senior management to establish technology priorities and allocate resources effectively.
2. Infrastructure Management- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, hardware, and software.
- Ensure the availability, security, and scalability of infrastructure components, addressing any issues or concerns promptly.
- Plan and execute technology upgrades and migrations to minimize disruption and maximize system performance.
3. Security and Data Protection- Develop and enforce IT security policies and procedures to protect the organization's data and systems from potential threats.
- Maintain effective backup and disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
- Stay up to date with the latest security technologies and trends, implementing appropriate measures to safeguard the organization's assets.
4. Vendor Management- Evaluate and select external vendors and service providers, negotiating contracts and managing relationships.
- Oversee the procurement of hardware, software, and other IT resources, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality.
- Monitor vendor performance and adherence to service level agreements, addressing any issues or escalations.
5. User Support and Training- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users, resolving issues in a timely manner.
- Develop and deliver training programs to enhance employees' IT skills and knowledge. Foster a customer service-oriented culture within the IT department, ensuring users' needs are met efficiently.
- 6. Budgeting and Resource Management
- Prepare and manage the IT department's budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources!
- Monitor expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and maintain financial discipline.
- Evaluate and recommend investments in technology solutions that align with the organization's goals.
7. Accreditation and HIPAA Compliance- Develop policies & procedures that meet standards of national accreditation.
- Coordinate with IT vendors to produce documentation that ensures compliance.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and review of organizational policies and procedures to assure the privacy and security of Protected Health Information (PHI)
- Develop and implement educational programs and tools to effectively train staff on HIPAA compliance.
- Develop and implement administrative, physical, and technical safeguards to protect and control access to PHI in accordance with Federal regulations.
Qualifications
- Education: A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field OR equivalent experience
Experience: At least 5 years of relevant work experience in systems administration, vendor management, network administration, or database administration.- Additionally, experience in HIPAA compliance, project management or team leadership roles is highly beneficial.
Technical Skills: Strong foundation of knowledge of computer systems and networks, operating systems, programming languages, databases, cybersecurity principles, and IT infrastructure management.- Additionally, familiarity with emerging technologies and trends in the IT industry is important to stay up to date.
Leadership and Management Skills: Strong leadership and management skills are crucial. These skills include the ability to communicate effectively, make decisions, delegate tasks, motivate team members, and resolve conflicts. Project management skills are also essential for overseeing IT projects and ensuring they are completed successfully.
Business and Strategic Acumen: IT directors need to understand the business context in which they operate and align IT strategies with organizational goals. Should possess business acumen to identify opportunities for technology to improve business processes, reduce costs, or drive innovation. Knowledge of budgeting, resource allocation, and risk management is also important.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Effective communication is essential to collaborate with stakeholders, understand their requirements, and convey technical information to non-technical individuals. Strong interpersonal skills are needed to build and maintain relationships with team members, executives, clients, and external vendors.
Problem-Solving and Decision-Making Abilities: Must be adept at problem-solving and decision-making. Should be able to analyze situations, evaluate alternatives, and make sound judgments based on available information and organizational priorities.
