Job description

Position Title: IT Director
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
Scope of the Position: Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the IT Director at the Speed Art Museum is responsible for the continued operation IT related systems, including computers, servers, software, printers, networking equipment, and all A/V related technology, totaling $1.5M.
FLSA Status: Exempt, Full-time, NOT eligible for overtime pay.
Salary Range: $130,000 - $135,000 Annually
Position Highlights:
Daily duties and tasks for the IT Director include but are not limited to:
  • Oversee annual budget process for the IT department, including operating and capital investments. Annual operating budget totals ~$100K.
  • Plan, organize, control, and evaluate IT and electronic data operations.
  • Design, develop, implement, and coordinate systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Coordinate with Vendors to ensure security of data, network access, and backup systems.
  • Analyze Help Desk requests submitted by end users to ensure customer satisfaction and determine educational needs.
  • Prioritize and approve software and hardware Installations, upgrades, and configurations.
  • Set standards for laptop and desktop configurations based on end-user requirements and standardized by department.
  • Determine support requirements and ensure vendor support is available for all business desktop applications including point-of-sale systems, accounting software, and other software and peripherals.
  • Select and approve telephone(voice) systems and services and support.
  • Assist in the procurement process of equipment including specifying parts and obtaining quotes for purchase.
  • Performs other duties as required by management.
Qualification Requirements:
  • At a minimum an associate degree in Computer Information Systems or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing computer information systems technology.
  • Collaborating with an internal team of employees and external vendors.
  • Experience with Backup standards.
  • Understanding of Voice and VOIP systems.
  • Experience writing end-user documentation and procedures.
  • Experience using help desk management systems.
Skills & Attributes:
Qualified candidates will also have the ability to understand sensitive information and maintain confidentiality, have strong interpersonal and communication skills at all levels of the organization from line workers to senior management level, have strong critical thinking skills, have complex problem-solving skills, be highly organized and have the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Goals:
  • Manage budget within a + or - 10% variance.
  • Complete annual Security Audit, resolving prior audit recommendations.
  • Develop early warning control mechanisms to detect and prevent network access disruptions, viruses, etc., and document periodic tests and results.
  • Develop and maintain equipment inventory control that will enable us to maintain adequate levels, and budget accordingly.
Physical Requirements & Working Environment:
Employee will need to climb ladders and go onto man-lifts, forklift trucks or any other equipment required to service equipment and wiring throughout the varied locations across the Museum complex.
