IT Cloud Solutions SharePoint Administrator - Haslam College of Business

Innovative Solutions (TIS) Department

Regular Full-Time, Market Range 9

The Haslam College of Business (HCB) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, invites applications for an IT Cloud Solutions SharePoint Administrator (Full-time, Exempt) in the Technical Innovative Solutions (TIS) department. Reporting to the ITCS Assistant Director, the IT Cloud Solutions SharePoint Administrator plays a pivotal role in enhancing internal communications and intranet capabilities. Working both solo and collaboratively, this role is in charge of designing, implementing, and managing SharePoint and Microsoft Teams solutions that are crucial for the college's daily operations.

In addition to ensuring full compliance with FERPA and data privacy standards, the administrator conducts quality control assessments. This involves crafting test plans and analytics tools to evaluate the performance, utility, and limitations of the technology solutions in place.

Serving as a cross-departmental consultant, the administrator tailors SharePoint sites to meet diverse departmental needs or identifies existing data for development purposes. The role is also tasked with keeping the college community updated on relevant IT news, M365 changes, and newly available training resources.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage SharePoint environment including web applications, site collections, sites, lists, document libraries, user permissions, performance, and usage statistics
  • Manage Teams environment including Team structure, folder, structure, user permissions, and backend SharePoint site
  • Configure and manage SharePoint site sharing and security
  • Create and maintain documentation for SharePoint administration procedures.
  • Create and maintain training material as well as host training events for both internal and external users on how to use SharePoint effectively.
  • Using Active Directory and security groups to manage SharePoint
  • Research SharePoint Online updates that are continually being rolled out by Microsoft, identify issues, and determine what needs to be incorporated into the college's large SharePoint Online environment.
  • Migrate any data / lists in SharePoint as required by project
  • Work closely with ITCS Developers, Data Analyst, and ITCS Manager, on providing the resources needed for developing new custom solutions for the college.
  • Alert senior staff of any compliance issues and other problems with new and existing technologies.
  • Train faculty and staff on how to use SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, and other tools when working with staff and faculty to identify and address deficiencies and training opportunities.
  • Contributes insightful articles and updates to the IT Cloud Solutions segment of the department's monthly newsletter.
  • Provides support in overseeing student workers within the IT Cloud Solutions team, as needed.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications and Experience: 

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 4 years of IT support experience
  • 2 year of SharePoint administration experience
  • Bachelor's degree will be considered in lieu of 4 years of IT support experience

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred

  • Microsoft 365 groups skills

  • Visio, Microsoft OneNote, Microsoft Planner, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Forms, and Microsoft Teams skills
  • Project Management skills - Microsoft Planner preferred
  • Mac OS and/or Windows 10 or higher skills
  • Ability to analyze problems and formulate solutions
  • Ability to develop and deliver training
  • Ability to learn and understand new systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent customer support skills

Preferred:

  • Azure Active Directory
  • Knowledge of CSS, HTML, Markdown
