Essential Duties
- Provides appropriate and safe personal care while observing protocols to support patient’s dignity. Assignment may include:
- Bathing (assist, bed bath, shower)
- Mouth care, skin care, hair and nail care
- Linen changes and bed making
- Dressing and undressing
- Turning and repositioning
- Transfers
- Use of Hoyer lift
- Assisting with ambulation
- Range of motion exercises
- Preparing patients for meal time and assisting with feeding
- Recording intake and output
- Assisting with elimination needs
- Maintaining bed in low position with call bell accessible
- Maintaining side rails up as directed by staff nurse
- Maintaining good infection control practices.
- Tidying patient room and family areas
- Laundering personal laundry
- Reports changes in patient’s condition, concerns about patient and/or family to appropriate nursing staff in a timely fashion.
- Participates in interdisciplinary team conferences, shift report, staff training, agency and departmental meetings and other related activities.
- Monitors and follows Aide plan of care and provides feedback to Staff RN.
- Consistently represents the IPU and agency to all internal and external customers with integrity and professionalism.
- Assists in organizing medical supply, laundry room and family areas according to instructions from nursing staff.
- Documents patient care according to agency policy and procedures; documentation is clear, complete, concise, and timely.
