FJ Investments, LLC, an investment subsidiary of FJ Management, is seeking a dynamic and motivated summer investment intern to join our team. Located in downtown Salt Lake City, we manage a diverse investment portfolio across public and private markets, including allocations to private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, real assets, and fixed income. As part of the five-person investment team, you will have the opportunity to learn from seasoned professionals and contribute to critical investment decisions.
Role Overview:
As an Investment Analyst Intern, you will collaborate directly with our Chief Investment Officer and the Investment Team. This hands-on role offers exposure to various aspects of investing, risk management, asset allocation, and portfolio construction.
Responsibilities:
- Research and Analysis: Source and diligence investment opportunities across all asset classes, including private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, public equities, digital assets, and fixed income.
- Asset Allocation: Contribute to strategic and tactical asset allocation and portfolio construction decisions.
- Market Insights: Utilize tools like Bloomberg, eVestment, Pitchbook, and Burgiss, to conduct market and macroeconomic research.
- Process Optimization: Identify opportunities to enhance our investment process and reporting efficiency.
- Fund Manager Meetings: Attend meetings to assist in investment sourcing and underwriting.
Potential Projects:
- Direct Stock Analysis: Analyze stocks using Bloomberg and Morningstar data to inform buy/sell decisions.
- Alternative Investment Research: Evaluate existing and prospective investment managers using benchmarking tools (Pitchbook, Burgiss, Cambridge Associates).
- Market Research: Research investment areas/geographies to present to the investment team. Monitor news, macroeconomic factors, and performance trends to evaluate potential investment areas.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree or currently enrolled in a college or university program.
- Passion for financial markets and investing.
- Intellectual curiosity and a proactive self-starter.
- Strong work ethic with the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Python is a plus
