$2,000 sign on bonus for external candidates. $1,000 to be paid when hired and the remaining $1,000 to be paid after the completion of the school year. The final bonus payment will be paid June 30, 2024.
The Academy, a charter school in Westminster, is hiring one Mathematics Interventionist to work with middle school grade students, supporting the core math teacher in mastering the daily topics through a second math class for struggling math learners.
The Interventionist at The Academy can consist of two parts: 1) leading small, focused groups in math interventions, and 2) fostering collaboration with classroom teachers by pushing in or co-teaching to support students in their learning of core academic standards. Employee shall perform the duties and responsibilities proficiently, professionally, and in a collaborative manner consistent with the standards of care and quality that accompany the highest norms of the profession. An interventionist addresses the specific needs of a particular child when regular classroom instruction is not sufficient.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Work in partnership with teachers and staff, modeling consistent and effective teaching within small groups, using research-based instructional strategies to ensure academic progress.
  • Utilize research-based intervention curriculum materials to meet the learning needs of groups of identified students e.g. MTSS students, GT clusters.
  • Work with multiple grade levels, various teaching methods, and different personalities, including collaborating across grade levels for assigned students.
  • Demonstrate expertise with understanding the MTSS process and Tiered Instruction to make recommendations for continuous program improvement.
  • Monitor and report progress of students through various data collecting/assessment methods e.g. diagnostic tests.
  • Communicate with staff the ongoing schedule adaptations of intervention groups. Designing and implementing an intervention schedule in accordance with grade level daily schedules, SpEd, ELL schedules etc.
  • Serve on the building level MTSS team and participate in MTSS meetings. Ongoing collection, organization and monitoring of data in conjunction with and in support of MTSS Coordinator.
  • Cultivate a professional relationship with parents, classroom teachers, and community.
  • Maintain appropriate behavior management during small group instruction and before/after school programs.
  • Induction role: co-leading and supporting new teachers in The Academy. Organize and facilitate bi-weekly training. Includes regular observations and coaching sessions with mentors and mentees.
  • Professional Development - Ongoing literacy training and planning as needed e.g. Write to Sources, Genre Writing etc. PD team member essential.
  • SpEd development: Shadowing cases as applicable, involvement in IEP meeting processes etc.
  • Delivery of curricula, grades, parental communication.
  • Enforce and follow The Academy's rules, policies and character education principles.
  • Keep classroom clean, organized, appropriately arranged, and decorated.
  • Collaborate with others to fulfill responsibilities related to school goals and priorities.
  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Must have two or more years of full-time middle school fully licensed teaching experience
