  The position will also need to travel to Waupun, Ripon and occasionally to Beaver Dam.

  If you currently don't have the CCHI, you would have 6 months to take the written exam and the remainder of the year to complete oral exams ( after an official acceptance offer with SSM Health).

Job Summary:

Acts as a liaison between English and limited-English speaking guests, staff and patients/families by providing oral interpretation, written translation services, as well as staff education and training. Provides support and serves as a resource for other department functions.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Interprets for patients, families and staff in a variety of clinical and non-clinical settings. Forms of interpreting may include face to face, telephonic and video remote interpreting
• Complies with all privacy and confidentiality policies when communicating patient information.
• Provides accurate translation of written documents, correspondence and patient education materials.
• Assists in explaining language access requirements/obligations and the cultural needs of diverse patient populations.
• Assists in the orientation and onboarding of new members of the regional language services team.
• Trains employees on regulatory requirements and the use of interpreter services through formal and informal training.
• Coordinates, prioritizes and organizes daily activities to ensure effective support is provided to the staff and patients.
• Actively participates in department workgroups and improvement initiatives.
• Strictly adheres to the National Standards of Practice for Interpreters in Health Care and the Interpreter’s Code of Ethics.
• Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

• High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.

EXPERIENCE

• One-year experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
• Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
• Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
• Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
• Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
• Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
• Rare climbing.
