Job description

The International Mission Board, a nonprofit religious organization in Richmond, VA, is hiring for Interns to participate in our Summer 2024 Internship Program at our headquarters location in Richmond, Virginia!
Dates: June 3rd- Aug. 9th, 2024
Location: Richmond, VA
Rate: $20/hour
We have opportunities in 14 different areas, listed below. We are seeking candidates who are looking for a professional-level experience and have the ability to work independently and collaboratively across the teams.
This paid internship program gives college students an exciting opportunity to receive work experience related to their field of study.
We have the following opportunities:

  • Field HR Data Analyst Intern - You will assist the Operations team with data collection, reporting and analysis that assists the IMB with decision making and planning. You will have the opportunity to learn the various services necessary for supporting overseas missionaries. And you will support data-related projects in the areas of hire and attrition analysis, member care engagements, medical services, and children's education planning.
  • HR Intern - You will assist the department with day-to-day operational work while learning the various functions and responsibilities of HR for a non-project organization. You will support projects in the areas of talent acquisition (recruiting), compensation, benefits, and engagement.
  • Global Research Intern - You will assist in a wide variety of research related projects ranging from crafting data visualizations, doing statistical analysis on field metrics related to the missionary task, Anthropological Research, Qualitative and Mixed-Method research, and Geospatial analysis and script writing.
  • Archives Collection Intern - You will provide archival assistance by conducting research and formatting metadata for archival digital collections, arranging and drafting inventories of physical archival collections, and conducting archival research.
  • Graphic Design Intern - You will create and collaborate on NextGen and other Creative Services design projects, as well as one-off or templatized design projects. Provide sketches, illustrations and final art to enhance visual direction of design and produce creative deliverables. You will work on assigned projects and collaborate with our team of designers, photographers, writers, and videographers. Examples of projects would include digital marketing efforts, social media post, illustrations for security stories, fliers, brochures, stickers and various swag design initiatives.
  • UX Designer Intern - You will contribute to the development of the IMB.org website for mobile, tablet, and desktop users. This role will require a good understanding of web design and user experience storyboarding. You will perform research, analyze data, and conduct interviews to create and refine customer personas and customer journeys. And you will utilize accessibility best practices to design intuitive experiences for our audiences including subsets such as ethnic audiences and the deaf.
  • Marketing Analytics Intern - You will track and analyze large amounts of data to discover meaningful trends and transform data into rich, meaningful, relevant insights that can be used to make strategic recommendations. And you will conduct qualitative and quantitative customer research using appropriate methodologies or third party sources.
  • Video Editor & Studio Intern - You will serve as video editor/creator for our social media sites (YouTube, Vimeo, Twitter) and assist videographers for studio shoots, audio recordings, and stateside events. You will bring your ideas and experiment with different versions of an edit, exploring multiple directions and styles while adhering to IMB branding and upholding our standard of delivering premium quality content.
  • Risk Management Intern - You will work in conjunction with Global Security Operation Center (GSOC) Monitors observing global events, responding to incidents to proactively identify situations that could impact personnel or operations. And you will be exposed to how the Security Team supports our mission by keeping the staff, missionaries and visitors safe.
  • Customer Service & Engagement Intern - You will be responsible for aiding leaders across the Mobilization office in capacities that engage, serve, and recruit Southern Baptists to participate in the Great Commission. This may include outbound communication initiatives such as calling alumni pastors, churches, or volunteers, creating hand-written notes to send to emeriti alumni, and participating in on-site special events and meetings.
  • Mobilization Data Analyst Intern - You will assist the team in various aspects of data stewardship, analysis and visualization both through day-to-day operations and analytics projects. Partnering with Data Analysts, you will be exposed to the responsibilities of data quality and analytics as well as the impact of system integrations and processes in managing data. Working across multiple data sets from various business units, you will participate in identifying insights for how IMB can most effectively serve Southern Baptists in participating in global missions.
  • Finance Intern - You will spend time with managers and staff learning accounting and financial concepts with actual hands-on work, and will learn how Finance is integral to IMB operations and the Great Commission.
  • Client Technology Management Intern - You will provide support for tracking, managing, and securing the organization's end-user devices while gaining experience in the disciplines of IT Asset Management (ITAM) and Unified Endpoint Management (UEM).
  • Training Development Intern - You will support the Training Development team to develop internal and external training resources for SBC churches, IMB Personnel, and National Partners. Additionally, you will assist the Training Development Team with project-oriented and clerical tasks.

  • Actively enrolled in a four-year college
  • Ability to live in Richmond for the duration of the program
  • Effective written and verbal communication
  • Detail-oriented, results-driven and independent worker
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
