Summary:
The summer intern will support the R&D and Innovation function within the commercial roofing business. The intern will work with senior scientists and managers and be a part of the core Systems Engineering team. The intern will have a great deal of opportunity to learn, contribute and develop leadership skills.
Essential Duties:

• Learn, be curious and brainstorm on potential new ideas for optimizing commercial roofing products and systems that will bring value to the end users (Architects, Roof contractors, Consultants)
• Conduct research on competitive products, new technologies using a variety of resources (Internet, Patent database, Literature review)
• Build product concept prototypes and conduct lab-scale physical testing
• Collect, analyze and present scientific data to key stakeholders and senior management
• Support scale-up trials at a manufacturing plant as appropriate and document results

Under This Roof, We Require

• Basic engineering/science skills (Chemical engineering, Mechanical, Civil, Materials, Computer science preferred. Junior or Seniors-only.
• Experience in 3D printing, design and safe use of laboratory equipment
• Ability to travel and visit plants or customer sites as needed (10% time)
