Description of Intern Work Responsibilities/Projects:
- Reporting on digital metrics and supporting the creation monthly report
- Reviewing, Formatting and Uploading weekly e-mail newsletter communications
- Researching prospective partners and funders and audience development strategies
- Collaborating with SRL Staff to brainstorm and support new ideas, projects, and goals
- Assisting with special projects and other duties as assigned
Learning Objectives:
- Skill development: Gain practical experience while acquiring knowledge within the field of communication, journalism, and public broadcasting
- Understanding real-world application: Develop a greater understanding about communication strategies and non-profit administration
- Personal Professional Development: Grow communication skills and learn new systems while working in a in a professional environment to support the development of project-based learning resources
Specific Skills Required:
- Excellent organizational, project planning, presentation, and time management skills with careful attention to detail
- Excellent tech savvy skills: you feel comfortable and are open to using Zoom, Google drive, Slack, AirTable, Outlook, MailChimp, and Canva
- Demonstrated the ability to work effectively, both independently and in a team environment
- Great interpersonal and communication skills
- Curiosity and enthusiasm for journalism, youth engagement, and public broadcasting media
- An interest in nonprofit communication and/or management

LOCATION
WETA and NewsHour Productions are Washington, DC established media and news organizations. We are a largely local workforce based out of the Campbell Place office in Arlington, VA. WETA and NewsHour Productions value employee flexibility when possible. Most positions based in our Arlington, VA office will be onsite or hybrid, depending upon the role.
