Mechanical Maintenance Engineer Intern
Project Name: Maintenance Engineering Project & SAP Implementation Preparation
Project Duration: 3months
Paid Internship: The pay rate for this internship is commensurate with the candidate's years of schooling and major. The pay scale is between $15 - $26 per hour.
Requirements:
Mechanical or Industrial Engineer degree preferred
Coursework Prerequisites: Junior or Senior level student
Location: Sylacauga, Alabama
PROJECT SCOPE:
Individuals will work within the Engineering and Maintenance organization helping to improve equipment reliability within a focused area and/or discipline.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION & DELIVERABLES:
Individuals may work in the area of Root Cause Analysis, which would involve methodical problem-solving around major unplanned outages. The goal would be to understand the root cause of equipment failures and put measures in place to prevent and/or predict such failures in the future to increase equipment availability.
Individuals may also work on implementing programs and/or processes for known maintenance best practices using predictive technology like Ultrasound, Infrared, and Vibration detection.
Individuals will work with Engineering and Maintenance to develop Preventive Maintenance plans and routes to detect failures as early as possible to allow time to plan and schedule equipment repairs.
Implement Standard Taxonomy for all spares and assign criticality per the below chart; Critical Spares Checklist; Download all PMs from Tabware and convert to SAP format, Match with new SAP Equipment names
PROJECT LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Students will learn a great deal about a large mineral processing operation. They will learn how equipment operates, how equipment fails, and what measures can be put in place to extend the run time of the equipment. They will learn about equipment criticality and where to focus the limited manpower of a large maintenance organization. They will also learn how Maintenance interacts and works with other departments in a plant, departments would include Process Engineering, Production, Quality, Safety, Accounting, etc.
