About these Opportunities: 7-Eleven Inc. has several opportunities for 2024 Summer Internships. Each internship opportunity will occur during the summer months, (10-12 weeks), focused on a specific functional area, and will provide the candidate with a depth experience within the area, culminating in a project presentation to functional leaders. Each intern will work closely with a coach who will meet regularly to discuss project progress, provide direction and ongoing feedback. In addition, each intern will attend a lunch series which will provide a cross-functional view into the organization and give the interns exposure to senior leadership. The interns will also have the experience of touring a store and learning about our distribution systems.
Responsibilities
Key Skills, Responsibility and Duties
- Basic coding skills (Java, Spring Boot, React, REST, JSON) Strong OOD and SOA principles, with ability to implement them in a language of choice (prefer Java)
- Collaborate with senior developers to design, code, and test software solutions using Java, React or Cypress.
- Assist in the analysis and resolution of software defects.
- Work on assigned tasks and projects within specified deadlines.
- Contribute to the documentation of software designs, coding, and testing.
- Stay updated on industry trends and follow best practices.
- Able to operate at highly varying levels of abstraction from detailed technical design to implementation.
- Basic database skills in both SQL preferably Postgres and No-SQL preferably Cassandra.
- Understanding the importance and usage of message queuing like Kafka/ActiveMQ.
- Basic understanding in Kubernetes and AWS/Azure skills is preferable.
- Understanding project SCRUM execution process.
- Demonstrate the self-work completed at the end of each sprint.
- Flexibly coordinate and work with geo scattered team to achieve project goals.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and compliance with coding standards.
- Participate in test case review meetings.

- Good analytical, logical and problem-solving skills with an innovative mindset
- Good knowledge of algorithms and data structures.
- Good written and verbal communication
- Mandatory presence in all team meetings and SCRUM calls.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges.
- Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related program or recent graduate.
- Solid understanding of core Java concepts and principles.
- Familiarity with object-oriented programming and design patterns.
- Basic understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
