International Student Advisor (ISA) has primary responsibility for one-on-one advising of GSU's F-1 and J-1 visa students and their dependents, as well as other nonimmigrant or International Students, in the areas of federal immigration and tax regulations as well as academic and personal counseling. The ISA will utilize the Sunapsis immigration compliance software and BANNER system to review student requests, run relevant reports, issue documents, and manage their daily work. They will also develop communications, present workshops, assist with student programs and activities, and support scholar and admissions advising as needed. The ISA is responsible for meeting with International Students to educate them on their immigration status and regulations and to assist them in meeting their responsibilities while working toward academic and personal goals.

Provide expert immigration advice and guidance regarding maintenance of status and employment benefits, such as Curricular Practical Training (CPT), Optional Practical Training (OPT), and STEM OPT extensions, to GSU's F-1 and J-1 students via phone, email, and in-person.
•Liaise with various GSU departments and federal offices when students have complex immigration issues.
•Advise and assist students on finding solutions to immigration issues as they arise.
•Conduct workshops and presentations as needed on immigration benefits and applications.
•Use Banner, Sunapsis, and SEVIS to report information, solve problems, and gather needed data.
•Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Minimum Hiring Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and one year administrative experience; or high school diploma or GED and five years administrative experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

•Knowledge of federal immigration regulations
•Knowledge of university policies
•Ability to work with a diverse population
