Responsible for providing comprehensive support and guidance to International Students and serves as the Principal Designated School Official for the College. Recruits International Students by developing and implementing strategies to engage with international audiences. Manages the international admissions process - from application through arrival at Riverland. maintains up-to-date knowledge of immigration regulations and policies to ensure compliance with immigration regulations. Prepares data and reports as necessary for institutional compliance - including reporting requirements for Homeland Security. Plans and leads an International Student orientation for incoming International Students. Advises international and ESL students and provides guidance on academic programs, registration, degree planning, and transfer processes and requirements. Takes a lead role in helping organize events and activities that promote cultural awareness and inclusion at Riverland.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS
1. Develop and implement a comprehensive International Student recruitment plan that includes social media advertising, virtual events, and partnerships with International Student recruitment agencies, institutions and advising centers. Collaborate with the marketing and admissions teams to create promotional materials and strategies tailored to International Students.

2. Work with NAFSA, MIE and SEVIS to maintain up-to-date knowledge of immigration regulations and policies affecting International Students to ensure compliance with visa requirements. Accurately interpret and apply all admission regulations dealing with non-immigrant, International students including Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship, and Immigration Services (USCIS) policies. Accurately report all required data to the appropriate agencies including USCIS and SEVIS.

3. Guide prospective International Students through the application process, including assistance with application forms, transfer evaluation and required documentation. Enter and track data in appropriate databases including ISRS and SEVIS. Create Federal I-20 paperwork. Advise on departure and entrance concerns and protocol at Port of Entry cities. Provide documentation & knowledge to ensure success at embassy appointments. Create a successful transition to the College through the planning and implementation of a student orientation for incoming International Students

4. Provide academic advising and serve as the point of contact for International Students. Assist with academic, personal and cultural needs. Provide information and guidance on career and program options, registration, assessment, placement and degree planning. Assist with housing needs, work permits and other logistical issues.

5. Advise, interpret and sign USCIS and Department of State forms for processing change of status requests, school transfers, extension of non-immigrant status, employment, reinstatement and re-entry. Advise students on departure and entrance concerns and protocol at Port of Entry Cities. Work with students to ensure compliance with SEVIS rules and regulations such as health insurance, required credit load and required GPA.

6. Provide advice and assistance in planning activities, events and workshops that celebrate diversity and promote cultural awareness and understanding.

7. Work with the Admissions Team to plan and implement admission events including career fairs, college fairs, community events and other activities designed to recruit and retain students. Completes other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate Degree
  • Fluent in Spanish or other languages that reflect our student body, workforce, and communities
  • The ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse populations
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Knowledgeable in current technology and proficiency in Excel
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in International Student admission & advising
  • General knowledge of U.S. federal law governing non-immigrant International Students
  • Ability to accurately research, interpret and apply Federal, State and college policies
  • Experience working with ISRS, SEVIS and the USCIS website
  • Demonstrated experience working with a multicultural and underserved populations
