Overview
The Internal Auditor completes assigned financial and operational audits under the direction of the Internal Audit department leadership and contributes to the success of the Internal Audit Department through audits and special projects.
Responsibilities
- Perform planning, audit testing, and reporting for a variety of audit areas, including Sarbanes Oxley control testing; determine underlying reason for issues identified during audits and share results with Bank leadership.
- Obtain and analyze evidentiary support as a basis for an objective opinion on the adequacy and effectiveness of controls; verify reports utilized in audits against source records to determine reliability.
- Provide insight for management on opportunities to enhance effectiveness and efficiency during all audits.
- Participate in the completion of the annual risk assessment.
- Lead initiatives to improve department processes or controls.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by remaining current on applicable federal and state laws and regulations applicable to the Bank; attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional organizations.
- Obtain 40 hours of annual continuing professional education is expected for this role.
- Operate as a champion and ambassador of the internal audit vision and strategy by demonstrating active support and communicating with the team and business.
- Interact with internal and external clients while providing extraordinary service.
- Develop and maintain trusted, positive relationships with employees, clients, and vendors.
- Represent the Bank and internal audit team in a highly professional manner.
- Complete job assignments in a professional, timely and efficient manner; organize and prioritize work.
- Maintain confidentiality; adhere to CrossFirst Bank policies and procedures; comply with laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Reliable and predictable attendance; both on-site and remote work.
Qualifications
- At least one year of experience in internal or external audit, or at least five years of relevant work experience at a financial institution.
- Basic knowledge of internal audit techniques and standards.
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently with little to no supervision as well as work in a team environment to achieve organizational goals.
- Bachelor's degree with focus on business, finance, accounting, economics, statistics, mathematics, data analysis, English, or psychology.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in internal audit at a federally regulated bank with more than $10B in assets.
- Intermediate knowledge of internal audit techniques and standards.
- Experience building PowerBI dashboards.
- Basic knowledge of compliance laws and regulations.
- Basic understanding of IT processes and controls.
Preferred Education:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or other professional designation, or working towards a professional designation.
