What Your Job Will Be Like
We are seeking an ambitious and skilled front end web development undergraduate student intern. You will have the opportunity to work on real projects and gain experience with a modern development stack.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
  • Collaborate with development teams, customers, and users to solve design problems
  • Implement interface designs on enterprise web applications
  • Use UI prototyping software to generate interactive interface mockups
  • Write clean, efficient, accessible, and standards compliant front end code
  • Learn and adapt to new technologies in the web development space

Qualifications We Require
You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:
  • Currently attending and enrolled full time in the spring term immediately preceding the internship (or scheduled to graduate in the spring) in an accredited related undergraduate program
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
  • Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer
  • U.S. citizenship

Note: If you have not yet started your undergraduate program, please apply to a high school intern position.
Qualifications We Desire
  • Familiarity with modern front end web development skills
  • Familiarity with interaction design or web application design
  • Proficiency -Strong understanding of web development concepts and technologies, such as JavaScript/Angular, CSS, SASS, C#/.NET, Node.js, Blazor, and REST APIs
  • Team/Communication - Strong teamwork and effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Performance - A consistent record of strong performance and the ability to work independently. Capable of thriving in a remote-work setting
  • Analytical - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

About Our Team
The User Experience (UX) Solutions department helps teams develop well-designed solutions by placing the end user at the center of the design process. We provide User Experience research, design, and development to ensure the best experience for the user when interacting with a product. The services we provide are: User research - understanding user behaviors, needs, and motivations using methods such as contextual interviews and observations to gather requirements. User interface design and development - designing user interfaces and how the user will interact with the system. Usability testing and evaluation - testing and evaluating product concepts (i.e. wireframes, mock-ups, prototypes) to evaluate ease of use and user satisfaction. User interface web services - development developing common user interface components. Software development - utilizing our team of project managers, requirements engineers, user researchers, user interface designers, and software developers to build a custom software application. We strive for intuitive, useful, valuable, and delightful solutions that meet users' needs.

Security Clearance
Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
