The following describes the various aspects of the designated job. Some or all of these aspects may be changed over time, with or without notice, at the sole discretion of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States (U.S.) on a part-time basis. The ACGME will not provide employment sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B Visa or other U.S. employment authorization).

JOB OVERVIEW

The goal of this internship is to provide meaningful, relevant, and challenging data collection application assignments that directly contribute to the department’s objectives. Interns work on real-world, project-based assignments that are designed to build competencies and allow them opportunities to showcase their contributions and growth.

ACGME data collection systems comprise the Accreditation Data System (ADS), which includes the Case Log System, and the Resident/Fellow and Faculty Surveys. ADS is a web-based software system that contains critical accreditation data for all Sponsoring Institutions and programs. It is a tool to collect and organize information for accreditation purposes and serves as a means of communication between the ACGME and Sponsoring Institutions and programs. It is also used internally by the Department of Accreditation, Recognition, and Field Activities in conducting accreditation and recognition activities. ADS incorporates several applications and functions, including but not limited to the Annual Update, Milestones, Case Logs, and the application for accreditation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop a working knowledge of ACGME data collection applications to a degree that allows for the successful completion of tasks and projects.
  • Develop working relationships with staff members and Management that allows for successful business interactions across all levels of the department and organization. Maintains and updates all documents related to the work of these committees as needed.
  • Provide application support to external stakeholders (residency/fellowship
  • program leadership) primarily communicating with end users through the ADS
  • email support inbox and phone.
  • Ensure end user satisfaction with professional and prompt customer support.
  • Support internal Application and Data Analysis team activities by assisting the Data group with routine data clean-up and quality assurance that require verification with eternal users.
  • Assist with UI testing, delivering detailed feedback of operating system malfunctions or software bugs, and suggesting system enhancements based on observations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program.
  • Ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues by using judgment consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Superior organizational and workflow management skills, as well as proven project management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and expert follow-up skills.
  • Ability to compose and send clear, concise email messages, using proper formatting, excellent grammar, and syntax.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to be maintain confidentiality.
  • Comfort in supporting new software applications.
  • Demonstrated competence with commonly used internet browsers, including Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Safari.
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely and cooperatively with management and support staff members in a team or independent setting.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Close attention to detail and accuracy of work required for success.
  • Proficient computer skills, including using the internet, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office 365 suite, to include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and OneDrive.

Preferred

  • Customer service or support center experience preferred.
  • Well-developed senses of judgment and discretion to deal appropriately with confidential information.
  • High tolerance for working under stress of deadlines.
  • Willingness to assist in other areas as requested, and a flexible, self-initiating approach to taking on other responsibilities and finding additional ways to contribute.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Skilled in working under tight timelines and comfortable balancing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS

  • This position is based in a typical office environment with no specific or unusual physical or environmental demands.
  • Most of the work performed is normally done in the ACGME office and/or a home office with the typical physical demands of an office environment.
