Go-To-Market Operations Intern (Undergraduate) - Remote
BigCommerce is disrupting the e-commerce industry as the SaaS leader for fast-growing, mid-market businesses. We enable our customers to build intuitive and engaging stores to support every stage of their growth.
BigCommerce, named a 2024 "Best Place to Work" in Austin, is recruiting Summer 2024 Operations interns for an eight week, remote program. As part of this program, you will be integrated into one of our world class operating teams for hands-on experience helping create sustainability and scale through operational excellence. Your mentor will collaborate with you to create change for the organization through a specific internship project which will culminate in a recommended implementation plan to the Chief Operating Officer.
You will build skills in operational/revenue analysis, process design, and go-to-market strategy development. You will use executive communication and leadership skills to deliver recommendations on opportunities and risks.
What You'll Do
- Partner closely with senior members of the Operations team to understand key challenges and business opportunities.
- Develop, deliver, and communicate data insights and provide recommendations in a clear and concise manner.
- Assist in the team's mission to enhance Operations learning & development by distilling your learnings into scalable documentation for future hires and interns.
- Assist in developing financial and/or process models for our most important business initiatives, with an eye for repeatability and scalability.
- Deliver a recommendation presentation to the Chief Operating Officer at the conclusion of your internship, including clear next steps for implementation to ensure lasting change.
- Execute an end-to-end strategic analysis as part of your assigned project, including:
- Craft your analysis: Decide "where to start" when analyzing a large dataset. Anchor analysis to a single hypothesis / objective and determine which variables to assess that will answer your hypothesis.
- Assess the drivers: Dig into subsequent cuts of data to understand what is driving the outcomes. Learning what to do when you are in "analysis paralysis" and how to regroup.
- Tell the story: Learn how to synthesize and cull the most meaningful takeaways from your data. Determine "how to tell the story" to an executive audience. Learn presentation best practices and how to build compelling visuals/charts to bolster the story.
- Make an impact: Outline operational next steps (eg, implementation plan) as the "so what" of the analysis with recommendations for improvement.
Who You Are
- Enrolled in an undergraduate program, preferably in a business or quantitative field such as Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, Math, Economics, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or Accounting.
- In Fall 2024 you will be entering your Junior or Senior year.
- Existing familiarity with Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides) required.
- Passion for data and Excel/Google Sheets, with the ability to speak to your ability to make decisions using data.
- A people person who loves collaborative problem-solving, learning, and contributing, and is motivated by a constantly evolving business landscape.
- Excellent time management, critical thinking skills, and interpersonal savvy.
- Crisp executive communication skills, including verbal, written, and in presentations of data.
- You are available 40 hours per week for an eight week summer internship from 6/3/24 through 7/26/24, with no more than one week of time away during the internship.
