Form of workWhat Your Job Will Be Like We are seeking an Intern year-round R&D undergrad to join our dynamic Power Sources Technology Group (PSTG). The selected candidate will work directly with national laboratory staff members on programs within the PSTG in thermal battery design and development which supports the SNL nuclear deterrent mission. On any given day, you may be called on to: Support teams performing fundamental research into thermal battery chemistry and electrical/mechanical properties.
Document procedures and results, complete data analysis, and present out work to the team. Contribute to general laboratory housekeeping. Qualifications We Require You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements: Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program Pursuing a science, engineering, or math major Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer U.S.

About Our Team The Power Sources Technology Group (PSTG) provides comprehensive capabilities in power source research, design, engineering, characterization, evaluation, and testing.
Supporting the PSTG is a staff of more than 80 scientists, engineers, and technicians with backgrounds in chemistry, electrochemistry, metallurgy, chemical engineering, materials science, engineering, and physics. The Power Sources Thermal Battery Design and Development group designs, develops and prototypes electrochemical Power Sources, including thermal batteries (molten salt) and associated battery assemblies for nuclear applications. Additionally, the team develops advanced manufacturing techniques for thermal battery production and provides engineering support for surveillance and shelf-life programs in support of the DOE, DOD, and other customers.
