Carnegie Hall's Development Department seeks a part-time intern (20 hours/week) to assist with daily operations in Government Relations. This position is in-person at Carnegie Hall with hours scheduled on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays between 9:30am-5:30pm. Activities include writing, research, administrative tasks, and full involvement in and exposure to advocacy and fundraising efforts with federal, state, and local government agencies for a major performing arts organization.
As a key member of the Government Relations team, which includes a Government Relations Director and three additional staff members, the Government Relations Intern will:
- Assist Carnegie Hall's Development Department in meeting revenue goals for our programs, building support for current artistic and education programs, and promoting new initiatives.
- Participate in fundraising campaigns and strategic planning.
- Assist with the department's outreach efforts for Carnegie Hall's Social Impact Programs.
- Gain hands-on experience with the department's Tessitura database through conducting research and updating the department's constituent records.
- Update cultivation materials to promote Carnegie Hall's programs to elected officials.
- Prepare materials for donor correspondence and meetings.
- Follow up on event invitations and track guest lists.
- Assist with cultivation projects and social media engagement.
- Provide general administrative support for the department as needed.
Candidates considering a career in fundraising and/or arts administration are encouraged to apply. The intern must be proactive, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and be able to work collaboratively with a team as well as independently. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills are required. Prior experience working with Excel is required, and experience with Tessitura, Raiser's Edge, Salesforce, or other similar database is a plus. Interest in music and arts education is essential.
