Position Title: Intern

Location of Position: United States -- Wisconsin -- Sturgeon Bay

Business Group: Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding

Department: Production Management

Position Type: Internship; Temporary; Non-Exempt

Reports To: Assistant Production Manager

 

Position Summary: This position is responsible for working closely with our Engineering, Project Management, Planning, and Production departments on the engineering, planning, and construction of our multiple ocean-going ATB new construction projects, as well as having the opportunity to be involved in repair projects, vessel repowering, conversions, and bid work at our vast, 63-acre facility. Significant heavy manufacturing takes place both in several fab shops, as well as on the waterfront. Interns will have a mentor group who will act as a resource and point of contact for everything from our organization, vessels, and customers, to life in Door County.

 

Detailed Description:

  • Technical review of drawings and hands-on inspection of completed work.
  • Coordination of various trade activities involved with all aspects of ship construction and repair.
  • Creation and documentation of test memorandums.
  • Troubleshoot various planning and engineering challenges as they arise.
  • Research and develop solutions to accommodate various customer needs.
  • Attendance is an essential function of the job.
  • Ability and willingness to engage in highly energetic pursuits on the waterfront.
  • Maintain a commitment to and promote the Quality and Environmental, Health & Safety Policies.
  • Abide by all organizational policies and procedures.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program relating to the engineering field

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Junior, Senior, or graduate level
  • Advanced coursework in the fields of Construction Management, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Structural Engineering
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, modeling and drafting software
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to interact at all levels within the organization
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
