This intern will work closely with the asphalt plant operations and support team, conducting research for areas of inefficiency. This intern will last from May to August of 2024.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Environmental Audits:
- Assist in conducting environmental audits to identify potential issues and areas for improvement.
- Review and analyze environmental records to ensure adherence to permits and regulations.
- Waste Management:
- Monitor and improve the plant's waste management processes, focusing on recycling and reducing waste generation.
- Coordinate hazardous waste disposal and compliance with waste disposal regulations.
- Sustainability Initiatives:
- Participate in or lead sustainability projects, such as energy efficiency improvements, water conservation, and carbon footprint reduction efforts.
- Analyze and propose ways to reduce the environmental impact of asphalt production.
- Environmental Impact Assessments:
- Assist in conducting environmental impact assessments for plant expansions or new projects.
- Evaluate the potential effects on the local ecosystem and community.
- Report Generation:
- Prepare reports summarizing the environmental performance of the asphalt plant.
- Document progress on sustainability goals and environmental initiatives.
- Research and Benchmarking:
- Conduct research on industry best practices and emerging environmental technologies.
- Benchmark the plant's environmental performance against industry standards.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of environmental data, reports, permits, and regulatory correspondence.
- Assist in the organization and management of environmental documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Preferred, currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Environmental Engineering, Business, or other related disciplines with an interest in construction.
