Dominion Energy is looking for an intern for our Solar group. This intern will provide technical input in the disciplines of civil, mechanical, electrical and controls engineering, through various phases of large solar construction projects.
Position will spend a majority of time on solar project construction sites with Dominion Energy site teams providing support for various stages of major projects including construction management, site development, permitting support (air, water, state, local, etc...), scope development, contract negotiations (equipment, engineering or "EPC" engineering, procurement, and construction contracts), construction activities, construction schedule, commissioning and transition to commercial operation.
- Perform engineering reviews and assessments assigned by managers, project managers and/or technical leads. Candidate may review detailed engineering drawings and verify technical contract scope. Candidate may review detailed engineering drawings and verify construction adherence during field implementation. Candidate will support lead project engineers in researching and answering technical questions as requested.
- Candidate will be expected to utilize fundamental engineering principles to perform calculations, analyze, research, and problem solve.
- Candidate will be expected to learn and become familiar with techniques, approaches, and practices used to evaluate solutions and provide recommendations.
- Candidate will be expected to coordinate with Solar team leadership, project managers, project leaders, engineers, safety and environmental personnel, and site team.
Must be enrolled in an Engineering degree program from an ABET accredited Engineering program at a four year or post-graduate college or university. Preferred majors: Civil, Mechanical or Electrical or Controls Engineering.
Graduation date of winter 2024 or later
Candidates must have a 3.0 minimum GPA
Must work well in a team environment including internal and external personnel
Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to drive a company vehicle.
