Intern: Data Engineer
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As Bayer Crop Science's Digital Farming arm, we deliver sustainable digital solutions using the latest agronomic science, data science, engineering, and real-world farming experience. With groundbreaking technologies like Climate FieldView and our ForGround regenerative agriculture platform, our team is a part of some of the most important advancements in ag.
The Science Research Data Engineering team is focused on creating competitive advantage for our customers through building out novel data infrastructure, metrics, insights and data services that enable the design, development, and implementation of data science insights that benefit growers. We are looking for someone to work with the relevant subject matter experts in Digital Farming to develop a method / process to consume and align and anonymize geospatial assets such as planting, crop treatments, harvesting, weather, soil, climate, etc… data in a way that does not diminish the fidelity of the data while disconnecting the linkage back to a physical location that would be identifiable to a particular grower. In this role, your work will help us unlock the value of data and will enable data scientists to develop the next generation of digital ag solutions.

Required qualifications
- Enrolled in a degreed program (upper-level BS, MS, or PhD) in a technical or STEM related field during the duration of the internship program
- Working knowledge of at least one programming language (preferably Java, Scala, Python or Javascript)
- Experience utilizing and aligning geospatial data assets
- Experience with relational databases and SQL
Preferred qualifications
- A solid foundation in data/computer science, with strong competencies in developing data pipelines
- GIS experience working with vector and raster-based data assets
- Experience with GIS tools
- Experience utilizing agronomic data assets, such as weather and soil data
- Strong curiosity, ownership, problem-solving skills and ability to adapt and learn quickly
