The Intern- Corporate Social Responsibility is responsible for assisting the CSR-CRA Team with planning, research, implementation, and evaluation of corporate responsibility and community development related initiatives, projects, and events.
Job Description
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Assist the CSR-CRA team with deepening nonprofit community relationships including engaging employees with high impact volunteer activities.
- Help to initiate, clarify, and enrich CRA focused opportunities to advance equity goals and capture impact stories.
- Participate in area events.
- Grow the CSR-CRA and Bank brand through participation in Valley's Intern program and related events.
- Demonstrate CSR-CRA program goals and seek opportunities to advance engagement that results in positive impact with a focus on social and environmental goals.
- Perform research and analysis on community development opportunities in key geographic regions to help further hyper-local CRA targeted strategies such as discovering and further clarifying local redevelopment plans.
- Leverage Excel and other technology tools to analyze and improve data integrity and most efficiently assure regulatory goals.
- Assist in updating systems with accuracy.
- Create documentation that supports and sustains programs and best practices such as process flow diagrams, updates to procedures and practices, instructions, research findings and presentations for external use.
- Research best practices and benchmarking with respect to other corporations/banks to assess their viability at Valley.
- Maintain schedule of work and summaries of activities, track projects toward completion. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and manage shifting priorities.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
- Detail oriented and organized.
- Ability to be resourceful and work independently demonstrating ownership.
- Exceptional time management, analytical, problem-solving, and researching skills.

Required Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Enrollment in a 2 or 4-year degree program.
- Enrollment in a 4-year college or university, with a concentration in Business, Sustainable Business, Environmental Studies, Data Management, Communications, or Public Policy or related field preferred.
- Volunteer experience related to social and environmental causes preferred.
- Experience with data management and reporting tools such as Power BI preferred.
