This is an entry-level position for students currently enrolled in a related technical program. This position involves learning routine tasks related to the management of the Smart Grid System, or various other utility-related tasks. Additionally, this position receives training and performs a variety of technical office and fieldwork in support of City Smart Grid and Solar activities. Work is performed under the direction of a supervisor or senior staff and checked upon completion to ensure quality, accuracy, and completeness.
This internship is with Lakeland Electric Smart Grid Department at 501 East Lemon Street in Lakeland, FL. Interns will work a maximum of 29 hours a week.
- Performs basic level skills as required in the designated position
- Assist in the daily operations of the Smart Grid systems
- Learn basic procedures of using computer-aided Software of the Department's choosing
- Assist in Smart Grid planning and coordination

Current Enrollment in a Business Administration, Sustainability, Energy, Liberal Arts, or a related degree program.
FOR INTERN POSITION:
Enrollment in or Graduation from a Technical Program with required industry certification.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS:
- Requires sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time, exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis, routine keyboard operations
- The job risks exposure to no significant environmental hazards
- The job requires normal visual acuity, and field of vision, hearing and speaking
