The Specialized Schools include The Academy at Forest View, life, International Newcomer, Vanguard, Early College Center and The Young Adult Program. Each of these schools/programs is designed to meet specific student needs. Our goal is to ensure each student has the skills to reach their full potential and thrive after high school.
The District 214 Specialized Schools seeks professional educators with a strong academic background in their content area(s) and the desire to maximize student learning. Candidates should also be willing to embrace an integrated/interdisciplinary educational philosophy and be enthusiastic about working in collaborative teams. Willingness to assist in the co-curricular program is appreciated.
Interim Division Head for the International Newcomer Center
LENGTH OF ASSIGNMENT: Janaury 8, 2024 to May 31, 2024 (Anticipated)
- TRS retirees are welcome to apply for this temporary interim assignment.
- Flexible work schedule is an option.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
1. Evaluates staff performance and encourages professional growth and self improvement.
2. Develops and maintains information on strategies for instructional improvement.
3. Monitors student outcomes in division classes to ensure that district educational goals and objectives are being met.
4. Facilitates continual review and evaluation of curriculum.
5. Keeps up-to-date on research and development in the academic areas supervised to provide leadership for instructional improvement.
6. Makes observations for the purpose of assisting teachers.
7. Provides input from the division to building staffing, scheduling, and curriculum decisions.
8. Serves as first referral from teachers on student disciplinary problems.
9. Helps teachers identify and gain access to human and material resources.
10. Supports and directs the work of the resource teacher.
11. Performs other tasks assigned by the Principal.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Presently holds a State of Illinois Professional Educator License with a General Administrator Endorsement or a Principal Endorsement;
- Previous building-level administrative experience preferred;
- Knowledge of staff supervision and evaluation.
- Spanish, Russian, or Ukrainian speaking skills preferred
