PAY: $115,000 - $145,000

 

JOB SUMMARY: MCSG is seeking an Intelligence Specialist Craftsman to support the SPACE FLAG (SF)/Advanced Training (AT) team at Schriever SFB, CO. SF is a mission planning exercise designed to prepare tactical-level space operators to execute operations in a realistic contested, degraded, and operationally limited (CDO) environment against a thinking and determined adversary. This United States Space Force (USSF)-sponsored exercise focuses exclusively on the space domain rather than providing space services to others.  The Intelligence Specialist Craftsman supports all aspects of 392 CTS’s current and emerging SF/AT space intelligence requirements.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Analyzes current and future threats to space systems leveraging Intelligence Community (IC) reporting
  • Works with the 392 CTS Intel team and appropriate stakeholders to determine Intelligence requirements to provide a robust SF exercise
  • Creates required products to support planning and execution of SF exercises
  • Identifies, coordinates, and implements current and emerging SF space intelligence requirements
  • Leverages all sources of information, including open-source material and other government data or information on specific threats to United States space capabilities, to provide realistic contested, degraded operationally-limited (CDO) advanced training scenarios/events, and determine plausible enemy courses of action that will stimulate actions to accomplish training objectives
  • Assists training audiences in drafting Training Objectives (TOs) for each SF exercise or AT event
  • Assists in planning conferences, coordination meetings, training events, etc.
  • Participates as part of the Exercise Control Group (ECG) and White Cell, as required
  • Captures, analyzes, and reports observations and lessons learned identified during the design, planning, and execution of SF exercises and AT events
  • Supports hot wash debriefs and After Action Report development after each SF exercise or AT event
  • Prepares event-related documents (i.e., trip reports, exercise planning/execution products, after-action reports, lessons learned, meeting minutes) within established time frames
  • Provides accurate and timely responses to 392 CTS tasks and coordinates responses in accordance with command policies and procedures
  • Carries out any other tasks that may be required to ensure 392 CTS mission success for SF exercise and AT events
  • This position requires limited travel.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Formal Intelligence training (through specialty-awarding military program (any Service)
  • Knowledge of current cyber threats, including their capabilities, vulnerabilities, and TTPs
  • Excellent writing and communication skills with the ability to focus on building customer relationships
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented with excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Possess strong negotiation, organization, problem-solving, risk analysis, and team-building skills
  • Aptitude to gather diverse and sometimes opposing stakeholders to work collaboratively to solve complex problems across multiple agencies internal and external to USSF
  • Proven ability to meet strict deadlines, prioritize work, and manage multiple assignments simultaneously without supervision
  • Proven ability to lead large teams in a collaborative, multi-project environment
  • Ability to work in stressful and high-pressure situations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook)

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Over five years as a space systems analyst focused on intelligence support to space operations
  • Over eight years of experience providing direct support to operational space units 
  • In-depth knowledge of National Intelligence Agencies and products and databases built and maintained by National Agencies
  • At least five years of all-source operational intelligence
  • Experience utilizing the MITRE ATT&CK Framework and the SPARTA Matrix
  • Understanding of foreign space capabilities, tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs), doctrine, command and control capabilities, decision-making processes, key decision points, limiting factors (LIMFACs), and Centers of Gravity (COGs)
  • Have a solid understanding of Service and Joint space mission areas, BMC2 constructs, and current space policy and doctrine
  • Previous experience designing, planning, preparing, executing, and/or evaluating space capabilities in Service, Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) or Combatant Command (CCMD) exercises
  • Previous experience working in the Combined Space Operations Center (CSpOC) Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Division (ISRD) or operational-level intel unit (e.g., 14 AF/A2)

 

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE: 

  • Ten years of experience supporting operational space or counter-space intelligence analysis
  • Ten years of space-related tactical, operational, and strategic intelligence expertise working in Service, Joint, and special access program environments
  • Recent (within the last five years) experience developing intelligence-based scenarios in support of exercise planning
  • Recent (within the last five years) experience performing cyber threat intelligence analysis

 

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university. Four additional years of experience may substitute for the education requirement.
