The Role You Play

As a therapist at Pawnee, you fill one of our most vital roles in the organization – providing mental health services to our clients. You will be part of a great team of fellow clinicians and make lifelong friends and professional contacts – and while you’re here, you will always have someone to consult with, be it a difficult case or just working life in general. As an Intake Therapist, you will be responsible for conducting initial intake evaluations to clients in your assigned region and making appropriate referrals.

• The Day-to-Day
  1. Conduct initial evaluations of clients’ mental health and substance abuse problems.
  2. Formulate a diagnosis and treatment plan consistent with agency standards, and make appropriate in-house referrals based on presenting issues.
  3. Actively collaborate with all other members of the health team on behalf of your clients.
  4. Travel may be required according to office of assignment. Travel is fully reimbursed by the company.
• Other Duties as Assigned
  1. Maintain continuing education and attend regular training events.
  2. Participate in community events advocating mental health on a voluntary basis.
  3. Complete crisis screens if no crisis program staff are available.

Who You Are

To succeed in this role, you will need to be passionate about providing mental health care to people of all ages.

• Required:
  • A Masters degree in Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling or a closely related field
  • Has a license or meets the standards of the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board for licensing as an LMSW, LPC, LMLP, or LMFT
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience providing diagnostic assessments in the capacity of a therapist
  • Strong oral and written communication skills using the English language
  • Basic personal computer skills

• Preferred:

  • A license to practice independently (LSCSW, LCP, LP, LCMFT)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software
  • 3+ years’ experience providing diagnostic assessments in the capacity of a therapist
