Women Against Abuse (WAA), is looking for an experienced individual to join the team as our Intake & Hotline Counselor (DV Services)!

WAA, a 501(c)3 nonprofit agency, is Philadelphia's leading domestic violence advocate and service provider and among the largest domestic violence agencies in the country. The mission of WAA is to provide quality, compassionate and non-judgmental services in a manner that fosters self-respect and independence in persons experiencing intimate partner violence through advocacy and community education. With over 170 staff, WAA serves (2-100 bed safe havens and 15 transitional housing apartments), legal services, hotline counseling, aftercare community-based services, prevention & education, and advocacy.

Responsibilities:
The Intake & Hotline Counselor will answer the Hotline as required, providing information and referrals, options counseling, and support to victims of domestic violence, and their children. Will conduct intake to Women Against Abuse Safe Havens and assist OSH (Office of Homeless Services) intake staff by assessing the needs of persons presenting for service and arrange for direct access to the DV shelter or other safe options. When no DV shelter beds are available, they will provide information related to maintaining safety, available services and connect clients to those services. All responsibilities are expected to be delivered satisfactorily and with superior customer service and according to Agency standards.

Qualifications:
1. Associate's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
2. At least one (1) year experience in advocacy, hotline, crisis, or related experience required.
3. Experience with victims domestic violence is preferred.
4. Bilingual strongly preferred.
5. Demonstrated effectiveness of crisis intervention is required.
6. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse population is required.
7. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member is required.
8. Demonstrated commitment to service of others is required.
9. Demonstrated proficiency in communication, both verbal and written is required.
10. Will be required to attend Domestic Violence Advocate Training, post hire.
11. Satisfactory child abuse, criminal and FBI clearances.

Post Hire Requirements:
Employment offer and continued employment are contingent upon satisfactory child abuse, criminal and FBI clearances and a pre-employment physical, are required (all related fees will be paid by WAA) Must be able to attend the mandatory upcoming JARS training tentative May 21- June 6th (Subject to Change)
All hours of attendance and for homework or make up are with pay


Current openings:
Full Time (40 hours) - Monday - Wednesday 9:00pm - 5:00am & Saturday/Sunday 7:00am - 3:00pm
Part Time (16 hours) - Friday/Saturday 11:00pm - 7:00am
Part Time (16 hours) - Saturday/Sunday 3:00pm - 11:00pm
Relief Hours worked based on hours needed (minimum of 2 shifts per month to remain relief)

Pay Rate: $18.08 an hour
Location: North Philadelphia, PA
