What you will be doing:The Insurance Licensing Examiner (ILE) issues over 20 different types of insurance licenses to individuals and businesses. Using Alaska Statutes, the ILE's regulate the issuance of Insurance licenses to both Alaska residents and non-residents. ILEs review and approve insurance license applications to ensure individuals and businesses are compliant with Alaska's laws. This position is flexibly staffed, if hired as an ILE 1 you will have on the job training which can lead to a promotion to the ILE 2 position.

The working environment you can expect:
This position is located on the 9th floor of the State Office Building. The 9th floor of the State Office Building has floor to ceiling windows that allow in natural light. Other members of the licensing team are just a cubicle away and are always willing to help. This position has the opportunity to telework part-time after successfully completing your probation and demonstrating that you have a working knowledge of the job duties.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum qualifications for the Insurance Licensing Examiner 1:
High school diploma or GED certificate
AND
One year of experience that included such work as using computers and computer systems to process and maintain data and information; reviewing information for completeness and accuracy; evaluating information to determine compliance with rules, regulations, or standards; receiving, reviewing, and organizing work; and/or communicating with and representing the organization to customers.
The required experience includes work such as, but not limited to, Office Assistant 1, Secretary, Accounting Clerk, Statistical Clerk, Supply Technician 1, Loan Closer/Processor 1, Tax Technician 1, PFD Technician 1, Vocational Rehabilitation Assistant 2, Natural Resources Technician 1, Criminal Justice Technician 1, Law Office Assistant 1, Motor Vehicle Customer Service Representative 1, Microfilm/Imaging Operator 1, or a similar job class with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
Substitution:
Post-secondary education from an accredited college (2.67 semester or 4 quarter hours equal one month) in any field may substitute for the required experience.
Minimum qualifications for the Insurance Licensing Examiner 2:
High school diploma or GED certificate
AND
Successful completion of a training plan as an Insurance Licensing Examiner 1 with the State of Alaska.
OR
One year of experience that included such work as using computers and computer systems to evaluate the accuracy and completeness of data and information; interpreting, applying, and explaining established rules, contracts, regulations, policies, and procedures to others; assisting in the preparation of reports; receiving, reviewing, and setting work priorities; and/or mentoring, training, or leading other staff in work activities.
The required experience includes work such as, but not limited to, Insurance Licensing Examiner I, Office Assistant 3, Executive Secretary 1, Administrative Assistant 1, Accounting Technician 1, Human Resource Technician 1, Retirement and Benefits Technician 1, Data Processing Technician I, Research Analyst 1, Supply Technician 2, Loan Closer/Processor 2, Occupational Licensing Examiner, Financial Registration Examiner, Business Registration Examiner, Wage-Hour Technician, Tax Technician 2, PFD Technician 2, Workers' Compensation Technician, Vocational Rehabilitation Assistant 3, Natural Resource Technician 2, Law Office Assistant 2, Motor Vehicle Customer Service Representative 2, Microfilm/Imaging Operator 2, Recorder 1, or similar job classes with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
OR

FLEXIBLY STAFFEDThis position is flexibly staffed. This vacancy may be filled at either the Insurance Licensing Examiner 1 level or Insurance Licensing Examiner 2 level, depending on the applicant's training and/or experience. The full range of salaries is listed above. Starting salary will be determined by the level the position is hired at.
