The primary role of an Insurance Eligibility Specialistwill be to verify and update healthcare benefits on patient accounts, correct claims as needed, assist Center staff, Reimbursement Team, and Patient Support Team with insurance/eligibility related questions, and process insurance authorizations.

Functions:

• Verify and document demographic & Insurance Eligibility benefits accurately
• Process insurance authorization when required by payer
• Assist in answering eligibility/authorization questions from Center staff, Reimbursement Team, and Patient Support Team
• Verify and communicate changes in eligibility for upcoming patient visits
• Correct claims with eligibility errors and denials
• Utilize various payer portals to determine eligibility
• Contact insurance companies to verify eligibility/benefits and/or resolve claim issues
• Special Projects and other duties assigned

Qualifications:

• One to three years of healthcare experience
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Familiarity with Behavioral Health Carve Out Plans
• Empathetic with patients’ needs and concerns
• Basic understanding and experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Effective communication/interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively and excel under pressure
• Attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• This position is subject to a background check for any convictions directly related to its duties and responsibilities.
