If you are in the process of getting your certification and have less than one year of insurance experience, we might be willing to train the right person.
If you are actively getting a certification or training in the field, we ask that you have business administration experience. Examples include Office Manager, Executive Assistant, or cellular phone sales representative. You must have experience managing complex applications, handling customer data management, knowing CA cities well, and picking up software quickly. Please also have a strong track record of job history.

Day to Day
- Handle incoming service and claims calls.
- Provide exceptional customer service to clients, addressing their insurance needs and inquiries.
- Manage multiple Insurance Accounts as the day-to-day client contact.
- Conduct sales administration tasks, including preparing quotes, processing applications, and managing policy renewals. An example of the flow would be:
- Prepare client applications for review.
- Determine the most appropriate carriers for market pricing.
- Make insurance program recommendations to clients.
- Manage client renewal expirations and avoid any lapse in coverage.
- Negotiate with carriers on behalf of clients.
- Process policies, endorsements, and audits as needed.
- Analyze client's insurance needs and recommend suitable coverage options.
- Market insurance products to potential clients through various channels
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in compliance with state regulations.
- Fielding new and renewal questions and requests and coverage reviews.
- Perform annual and semi-annual insurance reviews.
- Analyze client's insurance needs and recommend suitable coverage options.
- Provide proactive, personalized support to assigned clients.
- Responsible for marketing and placement of client Commercial Lines insurance renewals
- Delegate administrative client tasks to assigned Account Representatives
- Respond to underwriters’ questions in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain a high degree of accuracy in agency management systems: Hawksoft.
- Occasional in-person or video meeting attendance, aka face-to-face client meetings
- Develop insurance quotes, possibly make sales presentations, and close deals.
- Address customer needs as indicated and based upon role on the team.
Required Qualifications
- Strong basic mathematical skills. You can use a calculator or Excel, but you must be comfortable with math.
- Excellent customer service skills: building rapport and establishing trust with clients.
- Ability to analyze client's needs and ask the right question when you don’t know.
- Self-motivated: the ability to work independently and meet task targets; we call Metrics.
- High School or equivalent (Required)
- Insurance License (May be obtained after hiring)
Ideal Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of insurance products and sales techniques; CA a plus.
- Bilingual or multilingual proficiency is highly desirable but optional.
- Strong knowledge of insurance products and sales techniques.
- Ability to analyze client's needs and provide appropriate insurance solutions.
- Proven track record in sales, preferably in the insurance industry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Provide insurance technical expertise to clients and other members of the team.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and meet sales targets.
- Have Property & Casualty and/or Life License(s)
Work Location:
- Hybrid work setting: 3 days In-person in an office in Oakland.
- Weekly day range: Monday to Friday 8:30 – 5:30 PM
