As an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer with Veolia Water Technologies and Solutions (VWTS) you’ll play a key leadership role in setting our industry standards and specifications at a Global level. You’ll be the main SME for directing engineering design, construction, and commissioning of automated chemical process systems regarding conformances, codes and performance related testing. You’ll also generate engineering deliverables, overview the technical accuracy and completeness of technical specification/documents for 3rd party contractors, lead local teams on proper construction progression, field commissioning and technical readiness for startup in the final chemical manufacturing trials. Key Responsibilities:
Provide Engineering Technical Leadership in the design of Instrumentation and Controls systems for plant level and large strategic projects globally
Be the I&C Subject Matter Expert for the global business unit
Manage projects periodically where direct I&C management is required
Work in close relation with Global Engineering leader and Regional teams to develop sound technical SOW, lead 3rd party contractors to design Instrumentation and Controls systems to support the design of blending, reaction and utility systems, and industrial networking systems
Develop standards and systems for third party programming of PLC’s to ensure the system supports the chemical process design
Drive and support engineering deliverables include technical specification, maintenance/operation manuals, procedures, drawings (network diagram, loop sheet, panel schematics), prepare document dossier for pre-commissioning activities
Support where needed the development and review of detailed engineering documents from 3rd party contractors where local expertise is missing.
Support construction work in I&E discipline. Support all Environmental, Health, and Safety programs, policies, and regulations by being aware and investigating new solutions in line with Best Practices and new trends in regional regulations.
Assist technical team with setting expectations for preventive maintenance and working with vendors to implement equipment best practices
Engage in I&E related QA/QC processes of the units (Panels, VFDs, Server Rack, etc)
Drive a culture of reliability and reproducibility of newly introduced systems by ensuring proper pre-commissioning activities such as electrical loop tests, megger tests, motor rotation check, IO linking, network devices configuration, etc.
Provide training in the new technologies to operation and maintenance personnel in the plants
Drive the process that proper I&C engineering documentation is maintained by local teams on all capital investment related projects
Experience and Qualifications:
Engineering degree from an accredited university
10+ years of experience
Experience with PLC programming from a system management perspective
Experience with chemical process instrumentation design, installation, and troubleshooting is a must
Experience with I/O systems in chemical manufacturing facilities
Experience with IT/OT systems development is a plus
Electrical power distribution experience in addition to I&C is a plus
Experience as project manager of projects up to $5 MM is a plus – also experience with Gantt chart scheduling
