Madden Industrial Craftsmen is looking for an Instrument Technician 2 for a client located on the west side of Portland, OR.
For this position, you must possess a State of Oregon LEB (Limited Energy) License or Oregon Limited Journeyman Manufacturing Plant Electrician License at time of application.
SALARY: $99,822/yr to start ($47.99/hr)
INSTRUMENT TECHNICIAN 2
Installs, modifies, repairs, calibrates, and maintains electronic, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic instruments and systems used to indicate, record, and provide data to Programmable Logic Controllers and SCADA systems for process control to maximize the efficiency of treatment plants and pumping stations .
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
May exercise lead work supervision over technicians/maintenance staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Install, maintain, test, troubleshoot, modify, and repair a variety of instrumentation and control equipment including sensors, transmitters, monitors, recorders, detectors, flowmeters, controllers, and other equipment common to large and complex wastewater treatment facilities and pumping stations. Based on assessment of cost effectiveness, recommend repair vs. replacement, in-house vs. out-sourced repair.
Actively participates and/or performs new construction projects including design reviews, submittal reviews, construction inspection, commissioning, documentation, training, and warranty.
Program, troubleshoot, and maintain programmable logic controllers and microprocessor- based equipment.
Install instrumentation from engineering and electrical drawings; prepare schematics and reports to reflect changes or alteration made in equipment, circuits and systems.
Lead the work of other personnel assigned to large and/or complex electrical/electronic projects; check work for compliance with electrical codes and District standards; provide feedback to supervisor as necessary.
Requisition materials and equipment needed to perform work assignments; maintain operating logs; record required information.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR ENTRY:
KNOWLEDGE OF:
methods, materials, tools, and testing equipment of the Instrument Technician trade
electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical theory and practices for installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of process control instrumentation
the National Electric Code (NEC) and State and local electrical codes
pertinent safety practices and procedures; requisition and purchasing procedures and practices;
SKILLED IN:
diagnosing and determining the best method to install, repair and calibrate process control instrumentation
operation of a wide variety of calibration and testing equipment for electronic, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment
programming, installing, and troubleshooting programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
estimating and scheduling work
maintaining accurate and complete maintenance records
use of computers and computer software for scheduling work, and for office applications
training, scheduling, and evaluating the work of other Instrument Technicians.

determine the proper kind and type of parts and equipment needed for instrumentation installation and repair

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:
Responsible experience in installing, modifying, repairing, and servicing electronic, pneumatic, mechanical, and hydraulic instruments
Training in instrument technology, electronics technology, or related fields.
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess and maintain a valid state issued driver’s license at time of appointment.
Must possess a State of Oregon LEB (Limited Energy) License or Oregon Limited Journeyman
Manufacturing Plant Electrician License at time of application.
