Identifies and works to resolve technology issues and provides services such as standard load support and hardware support. Provides technology support and advice for pedagogical and administrative uses of technology. Serves as departmental point of contact for technology planning, budgeting, purchasing, and administration of computing resources. Assists departments and individuals with website design, development, and maintenance. Keeps abreast of emerging instructional technologies, particularly those related to the relevant disciplines.Job DescriptionEssential Functions:
- Works with faculty and staff on individual, department, and discipline-specific technology issues, including but not limited to identification and assessment, pedagogy and education, installation, and on-going troubleshooting.
- Initiates specification, purchase, and deployment of appropriate technology items to support teaching and research as directed.
- Provides support for all Wake Forest-supported computing platforms, including connections to approved peripherals.
- Supports WFU-provided software; supports and addresses advanced and discipline-specific issues and software. Software includes, but is not necessarily limited to, Google educational suite, Microsoft 365, Canvas, Kaltura, Qualtrics, and Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Troubleshoots multimedia equipment in classroom spaces.
- Troubleshoots networking in academic buildings.
- Consults and advises departments, programs, and individuals in designing, developing, and maintaining websites using WordPress.
- Works in partnership with other ITGs, and assists with specialized knowledge.
- Consults on issues associated with migration of data and data backup.
- Provides assistance with emerging technologies, such as digital literacy tools and artificial intelligence.
- BS/BA degree
- Strong working knowledge of the standard hardware and software used at Wake Forest University and the ability to provide technical support and basic trouble shooting.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of basic computer networking.
- Knowledge of HTML and web packages; ability to develop and maintain web sites.
- Knowledge of WordPress.
- Familiarity with technology accessibility concepts, ideas, and tools.
- Ability to research and evaluate discipline specific hardware and software for departmental instruction and research.
- Ability to train and willingness to participate in cross-campus training, problem solving, and committees.
- Willingness and ability to scope and sequence projects and ability to manage those projects.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Master’s degree in a related area.
- At least three years of related experience.
