This position supports our Medical Professional Liability line of business and can be fully remote. Preference is for this position to be based in the EST or CST time zones.
Job Summary:
The Instructional Experience Designer is responsible for creating and developing engaging and effective learning materials and resources that are inspiring, effective, and accessible. This position works alongside Instructional Experience Analysts to ensure produced work is relevant to intended learning outcomes, accurate, and up to date. Finally, the Instructional Experience Designer utilizes various instructional methods and technologies to develop online courses, e-learning modules, presentations, and other learning materials that accommodate different learning styles and preferences and meet the needs and goals of the learners and stakeholders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
60% - Instructional Design and Production:
  • Become and remain familiar with all assigned HCPL business processes and software applications including but not limited to claims, underwriting, risk management and secured website portal software applications. Utilize respective business knowledge to develop online modules, videos, dynamic knowledge repositories, and documentation that supports HCPL team members on various systems, processes, and procedures, and as needs are defined by Instructional Experience Analysts and stakeholders. Conduct research through performed testing within core HCPL Systems to create detailed and meaningful instructional content, including various use cases. Review and test courses or modules for functionality, usability, accuracy, and effectiveness. Align with team leads to conduct needs analysis and learner analysis to identify gaps, challenges, and opportunities for learning interventions. Utilize various leading-edge, digital authoring tools and technologies to develop multimedia and interactive learning content such as videos, simulations, quizzes, etc. Utilize suite of ServiceNow automation and artificial intelligence (AI) applications to engineer “smart” Instructional Experiences based upon structured data, process modeling, and generative text. Stay informed and empowered around integration of chatbot technologies, large language models, and predictive analysis to ensure a modern Instructional Experience for a diverse mix of team members.
25% - Instructional Production Management and Benchmarking:
  • Guide multiple educational training products using principles of instructional design and product management to create and deliver effective educational products and solutions. Oversee the entire lifecycle of educational products, from conceptualization to development, implementation, and continuous improvement. Create and maintain courses within an integrated, automation and workflow-based Learning Management System that are accessible and inclusive. Evaluate and test learning solutions using various methods such as usability testing or Kirkpatrick's model to ensure quality standards and effectiveness. Benchmark product design against industry standards and employ data analytics to ensure a data-driven approach to instructional design, leading to more impactful and engaging learning outcomes.
10% - Onboarding and Ongoing Instructional Engagement:
  • Assist New Hires by developing compelling materials and offering regular, asynchronous support via chat and/or online video technology and collecting real-time feedback to ensure our processes are meeting the diverse needs of each learner. Act as a champion for a ‘train the trainer’ model, playing a supporting role in team member live/online communities dedicated to sharing best practices for community instruction that empowers business leads to play an active role in education within business segments that integrates lived experience and historical knowledge.
Secondary Responsibilities:
5% - Other Duties as assigned.
  • Some travel may be required.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, Instructional Design, Data Science, or a related field. Eight years of related experience in lieu of degree. Minimum two years’ experience in instructional design, including program development, design, delivery, and assessments to adult learners required.
  • Proven experience producing educational materials, media, or instructional resources in support of identified outcomes.
  • Insurance experience with an understanding of insurance processes desired.
  • An understanding of adult learning theory, instructional design models, learning preferences, accessibility standards, and online/digital media best practices.
  • Proficiency in using instructional and/or multimedia authoring tools and platforms.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), interpersonal skills (collaboration), problem-solving skills (critical thinking), project management skills (organization), and attention to detail (quality).
  • A willingness and ability to learn new technologies and tools as needed.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team on multiple projects with tight deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and self-motivated with the ability to organize and multitask.
  • Experience working and communicating with mid-level management.
  • Experience working on multiple strategic and tactical projects across varying domains.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and digital production platforms.
  • High level of self-motivation and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast paced, complex environment with aggressive deadlines.

$47,937.00 - $79,103.00
The salary range displayed represents the entirety of the pay grade for this position. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have, your location and comparison to other team members already in this role.
