Instructional Designer/Project Manager position to work in an innovative and fast-paced work environment. These positions directly support the production and continuous improvement of online courses across all academic areas for both undergraduate and graduate programs.
Instructional Designer/Project Manager will provide instructional design expertise in building online courses in Canvas, creating course content using SoftChalk authoring tool, and managing online course development projects based upon priorities established by deans and the VPAA. This position will work collaboratively with academic subject matter experts (SME), other Instructional Designer Project Managers, Director of Online Learning, Distance Education operations staff, and other Indiana Tech staff (as needed). This role is pivotal to Indiana Techs' effort to enhance the quality of our student's academic experience across all programs and modalities. Central to this goal is the implementation of Indiana Techs' online course design quality standards, utilization of active learning techniques, student engagement, accessibility, and expanded use of open educational resource (OER) course materials.
Principal Duties & ResponsibilitiesManage online course design projects in collaboration with academic subject matter experts (SME), college deans, the Director of Online Learning, other Instructional Designer/Project Managers, and Online Learning staffBuild online courses using Canvas learning management systemBuild module lessons using SoftChalk content authoring tools in collaboration with academic subject matter expertsApply knowledge of instructional design to online course development projectsSupport faculty designated as academic subject matter experts in their work to design courses that meet or exceed established specificationsEnsure the alignment of course content (instructional resources, learning activities, and assessments) with the approved student learning objectives as well as established online course development standardsMaintain the course production schedule approved in consultation with the college deans and VPAA and manage time and cost budgets for course designEnsure appropriate accessibility of course content in collaboration with the Director of Online Learning.Analyze and apply best-practice trends in learning design and technologySupport the effort to provide instructional technology support and training to facultyMaintain project documentation and course foldersQualificationsBachelor’s degree in instructional design, education, or a related field (significant online teaching experience accepted in lieu of instructional design or education)Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal skillsOutstanding attention to detail in writing, editing, and production across various mediaAbility to work independently, as well as collaboratively, in a remote team environmentHigh level of organization skills, ability to multi-task and manage time commitments, and maintain productivity in an innovative, fast-paced environmentHigh-level proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and ExcelExperienceInstructional design/online course development experience in higher education is requiredOnline teaching experience desirableExperience creating courses in a learning management system required (Canvas preferred)Experience with content authoring tools is required (SoftChalk preferred)Project management experience is requiredEvidence of effective team collaboration and leadership is required, preferably in situations where team members are not necessarily direct reportsExperience with Quality Matters (QM) and the QM Rubric highly desirableEvidenceCandidates should submit, in addition to resume and cover letter, documentation (screenshots, documents, etc.) showing:

Working ConditionsThis position is fully remote. The Instructional Design team offers a flexible work arrangement; this may include a less than 5-day workweek. The candidate must be able to provide sufficient and secure Internet connectivity, as well as a work environment in which confidentiality and productivity can be maintained.
