Job description

The primary responsibility of the Institutional Research Analyst is to ensure the availability and submission of institutional data which is clear, accurate, and in compliance with internal and external reporting requirements. Through extraction from database sources, the position is responsible for collecting, analyzing, reporting, and warehousing quantitative and qualitative institutional data to inform decision-making and planning.

Essential Duties Summary
  • Coordinate, collect, and submit data for required external reports (routine and ad hoc) including but not limited to NECHE, IPEDS, US News & World Report Surveys, College Board Survey, Baron’s Survey, Princeton Review, U-Can Survey, Petersons Surveys, Military Friendly Survey, Wintergreen Orchard House Survey, New England Board of Higher Education Survey, NAICU, and Common Data Sets.
  • Complete internal reporting and provide routine and ad hoc data to/for various offices on campus, including student contact lists, preregistration and enrollment reports, retention reports, financial aid reporting, program review and accreditation, and other data needed to facilitate management decision-making, assessment, planning, and policy development.
  • Create data sets for analysis, primarily through extraction from Banner SIS utilizing the Argos reporting tool. Facilitate reporting by others at the College by maintaining database views, writing reports, training staff, and granting access to a particular report, tables, views, and forms.
  • Develop and refine an Institutional table of key operating measures to provide the College, developing historical resources to create long-term data points. Investigate and present resources utilizing data visualizations.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Two or more years in an Institutional Research office or commensurate experience in higher education administration (Registrar’s office preferred)
  • Experience in reporting institutional/organizational data
  • Extensive use of Excel and Office 365
  • Familiar with relational databases and reporting tools (Banner SIS, Evisions Argos, SQL)
  • Ability to work and communicate with all constituencies of the College (staff, faculty, alumni, trustees, administration)
  • Familiarity with operations of the institution of higher education
  • Demonstrated competence in research processes including data collection, analysis, standardized/statistical reporting, use of statistical methods, and use of computer hardware and software pertinent to Institutional Research
  • Ability to translate quantitative data into usable information for planning, assessment, and other purposes

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree preferred
