Description

Rockhurst University is currently seeking an Institutional Research Analyst II to join the Institutional Research team. The Institutional Research Analyst II is critical to the university's understanding and reporting of institutional data. This includes reporting responsibilities both internally and externally to satisfy federal, state, and local requirements in addition to institutional effectiveness data. Additionally, this position is pivotal in providing leadership on campus to understanding data and its use for institutional improvements.

This position has the following direct responsibilities:

  • Access, manage, and analyze institutional data and other information in support of informed planning and decision-making at all levels of the University (e.g., student demographics, enrollment and retention statistics, faculty workload and course information, state funding formula-related data, course information).
  • Manage the preparation and timely completion of external reporting in line with federal, state, and local requirements (e.g., IPEDS, DOE, MDHE, DESE, NCAA, HLC) and external groups (e.g., AJCU, CIC, U.S. News and World Report).
  • Administer and analyze data from surveys on student satisfaction and engagement (i.e., the NSSE and SSI), and other measures of effectiveness such as surveys of current students and alumni.
  • Assist in the preparation, follow-up, and reports (including Federal Compliance) for the university's accreditation agency (HLC) and the specific department efforts to maintain accreditation.
  • Work with the IT Database Administrator and programmers to maintain and manipulate institutional databases and institutional data warehouses for statistical reporting to national, state and local agencies and for internal reporting and tracking needs.
  • Monitor the overall integrity of data and train and assist areas of the university responsible for data input to improve processes for collecting and inputting accurate data into the data system.
  • Serve on institutional committees and task forces to seek out and support opportunities for synergies and automation.
  • Serve as liaison for the university to various authorities at the federal, state, and local levels for data reporting, research studies, or surveys.
  • Attend federal, state, and local level meetings, seminars, or conferences as appropriate and at professional organizations related to Institutional Research within the state, taking a leadership role where appropriate.
  • Present findings on Institutional Research and institutional effectiveness to stakeholders.
  • Maintain best practices in following professional ethical standards for conducting research, reporting and disseminating data including security of data and protecting student privacy.
  • Participate in professional development to acquire new skills, competencies, and dispositions needed to efficiently complete essential duties.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Application of research methods (including quasi-experimental methodology, survey data) involving inferential and predictive statistical methods and prescriptive analytics
  • Terms and definitions of standard data elements and experience working with spreadsheets, large complex databases, and statistical software to evaluate data
  • Institutional reporting requirements, timeframe, and importance
  • Understanding of the related financial, accreditation and legal consequences to the University
  • Programming and coding skills preferred, familiarity in Tableau, Argos, R, SQL
  • Command of graphic development (infographics and visualizations), statistical (such as SPSS), and word-processing software
  • Successfully perform duties autonomously and collaboratively.
  • Effectively manage multiple concurrent projects and activities, problem-solve independently, take appropriate initiative, and seek guidance, as needed.
  • Strong time management, prioritization of tasks, and reliably meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience with self-service management systems (such as Banner) and the use of data applications for data mining to clean, analyze, synthesize, interpret, and present data to different groups of stakeholders.
  • Effective communication (oral and written), analytical, and interpersonal skills. Experience with technical and research report writing.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, professionalism, and high standard of integrity.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field of study emphasizing statistical research, analysis, interpretation, and reporting Five years of experience in federal reporting Experience with enterprise management systems (Banner preferred) or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
