About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking an Institutional Investment Operations Manager for the Foreign Exchange Operations team within the Corporate Investment Banking (CIB) Operations organization to work with business and operations leadership to develop, manage, and lead a Foreign Exchange Operations (Retail) team supporting the Macro group within the CIB Markets Business. The leader will be responsible for managing an existing team, analyzing team structure, recommend changes as needed and to develop and implement strategy to support the business growth initiatives.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing a best in class operations support team that will help the FX business growth objectives, ensuring a client experience that surpasses expectations.
  • Managing risk and ensuring that processes and procedures are well defined and adhered to leading to a well-controlled risk environment.
  • Reviewing the current team structure and make recommendations as needed to align the structure to the evolving needs of the business.
  • Work with CIB Operations leaders and across other areas to ensure Operations innovation function is transformational, working to reduce costs, reduce manual processes and drive more effective and efficient behaviors.
  • Manage a well-motivated team that is cross functionally well trained and can step in for each other as needed.
  • Acting as the key point of contact for senior leaders in CIB Business, Operations, Operational Risk, Compliance, Legal and Technology with outcomes that:
  • Place Operations in strong position to execute and deliver results
  • Connect Operations to other parts of the organization to ensure no duplicated efforts while ensuring a standard best in class delivery.
  • Managing the day to day transaction activity originated by sales and trading.
  • Manage and motivate a team which strives to be the best operational unit and exceed client expectations.
  • Driving the team to achieve a high level of change through transformational leadership by ensuring strong and timely execution.

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Institutional Investment Operations experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 2+ years of Leadership experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of Foreign Exchange and payments related experience (will need to move down to desired qualifications
  • Strong product knowledge of FX Spot, Forwards, Swaps, NDFs, Options, Window forwards, novations, NPV and cash acceleration, and CLS
  • Understanding of the FX trade lifecycle: trade capture, confirmations, settlement, allocations, cancel/corrects, CLS, cash management and post-settlement activities
  • Understanding of market risk; understand the consequences of trade modification post settlement, be able to discuss risks with sales and trading
  • Ability to identify inefficiencies, opportunities to streamline business processes, and implement change
  • Ability to incorporate multiple data sources and develop strategies/operational processes
  • Ability to motivate groups and to quickly gain the trust/confidence of leaders
  • Ability to positively influence, motivate, and direct diverse teams in a shift based, decentralized, and geographically dispersed environment
  • Ability to motivate a team and lead strategic initiatives, collaborating across a large organization and multi-tasking as required
  • Ability to translate complex technical needs into straightforward requests for information and collaboration, working with a wide range of people
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels, where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are important
  • Facilitation skills, including ability to facilitate decision-making and broker agreements amongst diverse, differing, and/or conflicting perspectives/priorities
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience identifying key issues, involve affected parties, design solutions, obtain buy-in, and communicate effectively through resolution
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate complex material to a diverse audience
  • Knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
  • Experience with first line and understanding a complex business with the ability to deliver and execute on innovation, work across the enterprise, understand operations processing, improve client relationships and lead by example
  • Prior experience in process improvement, automation of control processes, ability to influence senior leadership, transformational change with the proven track record of execution
  • Strong working knowledge of Capital Markets businesses with focus on Foreign Exchange, its products and services, and relevant risks and controls of the business
  • Demonstrated capability to confidently raise issues, escalate early, and engage in constructive credible challenge independently
  • Technical understanding of specific business operations, processes, products, and customer interactions where they manifest risk
  • Strong knowledge of end-to-end trade lifecycle of Foreign exchange products including trade capture, affirmation, confirmation, settlement, cancels, corrects, amends and post settlement processes
  • Knowledge of confirmation matching and payment processes, CLS settlement as well as familiarity with other vendor platforms like FXALL, GTSS, Omgeo Alert and Bloomberg
  • Knowledge of SQL or other reporting tools would be beneficial

This position is subject to FINRA Background Screening Requirements, including successful completion and clearing of a background check. Internal transfers are subject to comply with 17 CRF 240.17f-2 of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and FINRA Bylaws, Article III, Section 3, which states that Associated Persons should not be subject to statutory disqualification. Successful candidates must also meet ongoing regulatory requirements including additional screening and are required to report certain incidents.

Pay Range

$133,300.00 - $237,100.00
