Job Summary and Qualifications
The Institutional Effectiveness Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the infrastructure that supports data storage, processing, and retrieval as needed to support Galen’s Institutional Effectiveness activities. This includes SQL queries, ETL and data extraction methodologies, report/dashboard development and maintenance, and support for technologies related to data and analytic needs. Position Responsibilities:
1. Provides student data related to Institutional Effectiveness and other departments via SQL queries and other database query methods.
2. Assists with responding to requests for information from external agencies.
3.Works collaboratively with other offices to provide Institutional Effectiveness support for all compliance, regulatory, and State, Regional, and Programmatic accreditation issues.
4.Develop and maintain customized reports against Galen's Student Information System, CRM, and Data warehouse to meet the data needs of faculty and administrators, as it relates to Institutional Effectiveness
5.Collaborates with the development and support of information technologies to serve Galen analytical and reporting needs (e.g., Data warehouse).
6. Produces accurate data sets for end-user reporting needs using multiple systems.
7. Updates job knowledge by studying relevant development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; and participating in professional organizations.
8. The ability to meet deadlines with only days, or hours, to supply data.
9. Develop processes for data integration, ETLs, reporting, and storage.
10. Other duties as needed to support the Institutional Effectiveness activities of the College.
Position Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or comparable technical discipline.
Qualifications: Minimum 3 years of data related experience with enterprise applications.
- Candidate must demonstrate proficiency using SQL.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to learn new technologies quickly.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
- Communicate effectively through oral and written communication.
- Able to discuss technical issues with non-technical audiences.
- Candidate must have experience in data visualization technology.
- Experience in SSRS and PowerBI are preferred.
- Experience with Ellucian products and Microsoft Dynamics CRM are preferred.
Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment:
- Must be able to sit at a desk for eight hours per day.
