INSTALLATION TECHNICIAN
Low Voltage
Work will include removal of old electronic components (Fare Boxes) and replacing with new equipment on CTA buses. You will be installing components and cabling, terminating low voltage electrical wiring. Will need to have experience with mounting equipment/components, running cables and wiring, stripping and preparing wiring, crimping electrical terminals onto wiring, terminating wires to electrical sources such as breakers, terminal blocks, grounding lugs, etc. Candidates will need to have previous electronics/electromechanical /construction /trades experience.
Job duties will include:
Identifying correct electronic components and cables
Removal of old electronic components and cables
Installation of new equipment and components (Concrete Mounting)
Running new cables
Terminating connectors
Terminating to power sources
Securing wiring after work completed
Ensuring system powers up correctly
Assisting with troubleshooting if needed
Cleaning work areas
Skills required:
Heavy Lifting (Fareboxes weigh about 80 pounds)
Low voltage electrical background preferred
Experience with hand and power tools
Experience running cables
Must have the ability to work standing, bending, or crouching for long periods of time. (Please note that there will be extended periods of bending while mounting gates into concrete).
Ability to follow directions and complete tasks in a timely manner
Must commit to entire length of project
Must be reliable to show up on daily basis and be on time
Must have own basic installation tools;
Must Have Tool List:
Drill w/2 batteries and charger, Flush cutters, Wire Strippers, Crimper, Philips and flathead screwdrivers (or multi screwdriver), Headlamp, Standard Socket and Wrench Set set 1/2"- 15/16", Standard Wrench set up to 15/16, Utility knife, Knee Pads and Tool bag
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
⃝ Class 2 safety vest (will likely be provided by ESP, but it's good to have your own just in case)
⃝ Safety glasses
⃝ Work gloves
Steel Toes
Must be willing to work nights and weekends
Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 7am-3:30pm
Must be able to pass background check and drug screening
Duration of Project: 8-10 months
Start Date: 11/13/2023
Salary: $21-$23.00 an hour
