What is it that we do at Colonial Pipeline Company?
Colonial Pipeline is the largest refined products pipeline in the United States, transporting more than 100 million gallons or 2.5 million barrels per day. Colonial transports various grades of gasoline, diesel fuel, home heating oil, jet fuel, and fuels for the U.S. military through a pipeline system. Colonial transports approximately 45 percent of all fuel consumed on the East Coast, providing refined products to more than 50 million Americans.
About the Inspector Projects Position
As an Entry Level Inspector Projects, you provide inspection and oversight of the day-to-day activities involved in a project. You will be performing tasks involving general maintenance of pipeline and station assets. You are someone who has the ability to learn on the job, communicate effectively, work independently and complete tasks in a safe and self-directed manner. You will act as primary safety representative on the job site and assume responsibility for the safety of the workforce, as well as contractor adherence to company standards and specifications.
What You Get to Do:

  • Learn about Colonial Pipeline infacility and pipeline inspection processes.
  • Train on then supervise work related to projects at various locations including system integrity, tank work, and capital projects. Schedule and coordinate company employees, contractors, and vendors to complete projects.
  • Prepare written reports to ensure compliance with government regulations, company policy, and specifications to ensure project cost control, timely completion, and adherence to company MVPs.
  • Coordinate work with operations teams to ensure timely completion of assigned projects.
  • Operate various types of tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • May respond to right-of-way encroachments, one-calls, and AOC's.

What You Bring to the Table:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree from an accredited school or institution.
  • Ideally, 3+ years of construction, industrial, civil, maintenance related experience or pipeline operations experience.
  • Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record to drive company and personal vehicles to travel to locations away from headquarter point.
  • Ability to travel up to 70% of the time, which includes traveling between sites and /or out of town travel and to drive long distances each workday.
  • 24 Hour HAZWOPER, OSHA 30, and Excavation Competent Person training and certification.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, including knowledge of machines and tools, and their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Ability to work extended hours, holidays, and/or weekends as required. Subject to call-out and occasional overtime.

Physical Requirements & Work Conditions:
Must be able to work indoors and outdoors at all hours in all weather conditions in close proximity to refined petroleum products and heavy equipment. Physical mobility to sit, stand, reach, pull, push, and bend. Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. unassisted. Ability to work in non-permit required confined spaces. Ability to verbally communicate by two-way radio, especially during emergency response. Traverse uneven terrain to reach secluded right-of-way. Climb tank steps up to 60 ft. high and climb vertical ladders to valve platforms up to 10 ft. high. Color recognition for control panel indicator lights and to analyze product colors. Ability to perform work in an outdoor setting (including inclement weather, heat, humidity and prolong exposure to the sun and dust). Use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
