Inspector Iii - Engineering

Duties: Inspects construction of bridges, water lines, sewer lines, streets, drainage facilities, and other types of construction work for City infrastructure to ensure that procedures and materials comply with construction plans and specifications by performing the following duties. Measures distances to verify accuracy of dimensions of structural installations and layouts. Verifies levels, alignment, and elevation of installations. Inspects work in progress to ensure that procedures followed and materials used conform to specifications. Prepares samples of unapproved materials for laboratory testing, oversees testing labs for samples of compaction, density, and materials testing for quality of workmanship. Examines workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standard and approves installation. Interprets blueprints and specifications for Contractor and discusses deviations from specified construction procedures to ensure compliance with regulations governing construction. Records quantities of materials received or used during specified periods. Maintains daily log of construction and inspection activities and compares progress reports. Must have and maintain, without interruption, all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements. Works the assigned schedule and complies with the City's timekeeping and attendance policy.

Qualifications: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
